Post-Democracy By Hannah Moscovitch April 8-25, 2021... Power. Privilege. Corruption. A Digital Production | A World Premiere Welcome to the world of the 1%, the corporate elite, the C-suite the king-makers whose influence flows through every aspect of our lives virtually unnoticed. When a CEO and his top executives are on a business trip for a major deal, a damaging sex scandal at the company is unearthed back home. As the pressure to complete the deal mounts, more secrets come to the surface, endangering the CEO’s company, his family and his legacy. What happens to morality when human beings have limitless power? View this hour-long, 4-person play from the comfort of your home. No trip into Winnipeg required. Ticket prices range from $20-$35. Frosty Folks! Thank you for all the love you've shown our little EP "Simple Kind of Xmas". From tens of thousands of plays, hundreds of shares all over the ...world, new features and a near sell-out of our limited run of CDs you've made us feel so lucky for supporters like you. If you are in Winnipeg desperate for a last-minute stocking stuffer, we are doing Curbside Pick up! (Email [email protected] to arrange). You can also still buy and send the album as a digital gift too anywhere in the world at the link below. We're going to leave you to your holidays, strange as they may be, with this beautiful on ice interpretation of the single by two anonymous elves. Here's hoping for a better 2021 and until then remember" "This too shall pass, and we'll see you at a show" Love, your fans, RED MOON ROAD . https://redmoonroad.bandcamp.com//a-simple-kind-of-christm See more

A heartfelt thanks to Shawn Samels from MWM Environmental for their generous donation to the Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council and the Heritage Home for the Arts. For every recycling bin that is emptied, MWM puts $0.05 to their donation fund which goes to a different charity each funding period. Why should I donate to my community arts and cultural centre? I don’t even like art. Did you know that: Art, like human beings, has evolved over hundreds and hundreds of year. It is how we have communicated, celebrated, recorded and described our lives since the beginning of time. Some would argue that it is a central part of our humanity. ... The arts contribute to our economy by attracting tourists and businesses, developing skills and talents and generating new employment opportunities. There is a demonstrable, positive correlation between schoolchildren’s grades in math and literacy, and their involvement with drama or music activities. Art is important because it encompasses all the developmental domains in child development - physical development, enhancement of fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional development, cognitive development and creativity. Research suggests that more engagement with the arts is linked to a higher level of subjective wellbeing reported by participants. As well as that, taking part in the arts has been proven to improve cognitive function of people of all ages and help to treat a range of illnesses such as dementia, depression and Parkinson’s disease. It can help improve the conditions of patients by reducing stress, anxiety and blood pressure. For older people, engaging with the arts helped to create and maintain a positive sense of self, something which is often lost the older we get.

Manitobans Still Exhibit Art Despite the Global Pandemic WINNIPEG September 3, 2020 Despite the global pandemic, the online world will have the opportunity to take in the best contemporary visual art from across Manitoba this September. This year’s Manitoba Rural Northern Juried Art Show will feature 56 artists from the Central, Eastman, Interlake, Northern, Parkland, and Westman areas of the province, but, unlike previous years, will be hosted entirely online.... The Manitoba Rural and Northern Juried Art Show stems from the desire to bring artists and their art together across geographic and cultural boundaries. Artworks cover a diverse range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media and textiles. Highlighting the work of artists across Manitoba, this year’s exhibition will replace Manitoba Art Network’s cancelled Manitoba Showcase 2020. Audiences will now have access to view the artwork online and purchase works 24/7 with an entirely new and innovative program to Manitoba Artwork’s 2020 programming that will reach a larger audience. "We have a great arts scene here in Winnipeg, says exhibit coordinator Nicole Shimonek, but how often do we get to see any of the great art being produced in Manitoba outside of Winnipeg? Shimonek continues, We at Manitoba Arts Network are thrilled to be able to bridge that gap. From September 3rd through to October 20th the public will be invited to vote for artworks in the exhibition. The Zoom launch party will be held on October 22nd, the original date of the Showcase 2020 Opening Reception. Manitoba Arts Network will announce the voter’s choice awards based on how many votes were received via public voting through the site.
