Heritage Playhouse 06.10.2020

Attention Supporters! We appreciate the support of the community that we’ve enjoyed for the past 20 years and in particular the months since we were forced to close down due to Covid-19. You showed how much you value the Heritage Playhouse through your extraordinary generosity. Heritage Playhouse is a wonderful facility, and provides an important service to the community. If you would like to play a role in the future of the playhouse, please consider taking out a membershi...p and perhaps standing for election to the Board at our upcoming Annual General Meeting. To participate on the Board you will need: - an interest in maintaining this wonderful community asset, - three months membership of the Gibsons Landing Heritage Society (if necessary it is possible to waive this requirement) - an ability to attend a two-hour monthly meeting and participating in occasional volunteer efforts. You will find opportunities to use your skills in finance, fund-raising, thoughtful discussion, imaginative planning in a collaborative and friendly environment. Please message us if you have questions and we will connect you with an existing Board member. See more

The Gibsons Landing Heritage Society who operate the Heritage Playhouse offer their sincere thanks to all of community for their amazing generosity. Dear Members and Audience Back in June, after all our upcoming Playhouse events were cancelled or postponed, we reached out to the community to ask for help. The Sunshine Coast Community Foundation quickly stepped forward with a $5,000 grant from its Covid-19 Relief Fund, and then you, our members and audience, showed us how much... you value the Heritage Playhouse. Your generous donations have surpassed all our expectations, and strengthened our commitment to overcome this significant setback. visit We are excited to announce our re opening on Thursday September 17 with our new health and safety policies in place. Heritage Playhouse needs your help! Covid-19 has affected our community in many ways. It has changed the lives of our seniors, our children, our families and has led to many businesses and services having to close their doors, some of them permanently. The Gibsons Landing Heritage Society, a registered Charity, who operates the Heritage Playhouse is facing a grim future. The Playhouse is a rental facility which works to keep rentals affordable to the performing arts communi...ty. With no rentals since March 12, 2020 and no way to forecast what future revenue would look like, the Playhouse may become another Covid-19 casualty. As all of us appreciate, basic needs in this troubled time such as all utilities and insurance must be paid on a monthly basis, but with no revenue this is an overwhelming situation for GLHS. We have been blessed in the past to have this wonderful facility for films, plays, dance performances, musicians, storytellers, fundraisers, telethons, recordings, meetings and many other artists and community groups. It would be a huge loss to the Coast community if the Playhouse did not survive. The Playhouse, built by the community for the community, needs your financial support no matter how small, in order to remain a vital part of our community. A donation to the Society will help a great deal in continuing the successful life of this great little theatre. As a Registered Charity, the GLHS issues tax exempt receipts for donations over $25. Live-Stream / Joel Fafard - Saturday June 13, 7:15 to 8:15 We will go live from the beautiful Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons on the Music in the Landing Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Music.Landing /), direct to your living rooms and simulcast on Eastlink Community TV! Award-winning guitarist Joel Fafard performs Southern roots and blues classics with the soul of a purist and the showmanship of a seasoned entertainer.... He sings with the sexy, sandpapered-sounding vocal style of the new-generation bluesman delivered with the confidence of a late show host delivering his monologue. And when he lets rip a solo on his resonator guitar, it’s easy to hear how he once earned both a Juno nomination and a Western Canadian Music Award for his skills on the axe. With his latest albums, Fowl Mood, along with his live show, Fafard is using his uncommon skill as an entertainer to embark on a new musical mission: breathing new life into grand old numbers like Sow Good Seeds, Grinnin in yer face. His performances are as authentic as those of a Beale Street busker but infused with a touch of contemporary urban attitude. And his live show is pure polish and professionalism. joelfafard.com https://www.facebook.com/joelfafard youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch-KxqexCFA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaI8LsWSMFQ
