hernest project 13.05.2021

On our blog this week is a guest post by @alisa.koz , a conscious lifestyle blogger I met virtually last year. I've been following her for a while and thought she would be the perfect person to ask to style our Frankie dress. Her suggestions had me racing through my closet to see what I could replicate. Now to wait for the slightly warmer days, ho-hum The link is in our bio! Happy Friday, ... Cass x

As I work through my to-do which includes big strategic documents like our investor pitch decks, sustainability framework, and website updates I realize that I haven't shared hernest's company vision in quite some time. I thought maybe today was a good day. "Our vision is a company that creates the most comfortable and effortless loungewear. Our practices contribute to the regeneration of natural systems and remove barriers that prevent people from fully participating in a socially just world." Our North Star

Lucille crewneck in "sage" green. An ode to having or showing sound judgment (being sage), adding warmth & complexity to an outfit (the same way sage does to a meal), and the multitude of benefits that one top can bring to a wardrobe (because sage can be used in so many ways!)

oh my gosh. THANK-YOU, thank-you, thank-you! it has been an incredible launch so far and I am so grateful for the support. It's been an intense few days for this team of one so for now, it's time to crawl into my pj's and get some sleep! I've had some questions and a few people asking about the difference between the two shorts and the fabric details. I will answer every single question tomorrow if I have not already sent you a note! That’s all she wrote! Happy to turn the page on this year! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I had another post planned for today (part IV if you’ve been following along), but my computer imploded (seems about right ) So cheers to you! Thank-you for being here. Thank-you for the support! I wish you all a healthy and peaceful 2021!

PART III - REFLECTIONS ON A HARD YEAR (part 1 & 2 in the previous post). This year we had a major "aha" moment. Building a sustainable business was always part of the plan. There's no exact rule book on how to do it (or so I thought!). In 2018 I started by sourcing sustainable fibers, finding accredited partners for manufacturing, being transparent, using minimal plastic-free packaging, and advocating for conscious consumerism. All good things, decided intentionally, but I k...new there had to be more to it. hernest needed a more strategic vision for the future. I started working with a sustainability coach in late summer and early fall. I learned very quickly about the fundamentals - the 4 principles or rules" of sustainability, and the 17 sustainable development goals (SDG’s) adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. The SDGs provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and to the future (you can google SDG’s UN" if you want to dig a little into it). And the 4 principles of sustainability (which I like to call the rules) clearly define what it means to operate sustainably (next slide shows the definition). When you align your business strategies to the UN’s sustainable development goals and design your business to operate within the 4 sustainability principles, you can get really clear on your sustainable framework. AHA - the strategicblueprint I’d been searching for. Which leads to the last topic - how we’re going to define success into the future

adding some spring colors, more sizes and a restock to this line-up in the new year !!! the lucille crewneck has quickly become a favorite and a few weeks ago I asked what colors you were most interested in seeing this spring. The results were divided so instead of Eene Meene Mine Moe (ok not really, but it was an even toss-up) we decided that 2 new colors are better than one

Moss Green - a variable color averaging a moderate yellow-green. We love this green because it is restful, soothing, cheerful, and optimistic
