This slice of spring is one of several pieces currently available through Colborne Street Gallery in Fenelon Falls during A Holiday Market. You can preview the extensive selection of gorgeous handmade items and artworks available during the show on the @colbornestgallery website. For Peterborough dwellers, visiting the gallery makes a really nice weekend outing (don’t forget your mask)! It was a pleasure getting out of the studio for a sunny drive on the day I delivered my paintings. ... Boo! Caught this ghostie floating around the studio late one evening ... looks like he forgot to iron his outfit before starting his shift. ... Morley is a star pupil at sitting still when treats are involved, but is not at all acquainted with the notion of dress-up. He’s still pretty excitable these days and has a reputation for munching on items that are not generally considered edible in polite society, but his patience the other evening while I took a couple of quick ph...otos was impressive! ... The gloomy clouds today remind me of mixing dark glazes around this time last year, when I was working on a particular commissioned piece. I’ve been introducing more greens into my paint diet lately, like in this work in progress. It feels fresh. Part of what I love about making art is how different one project can be from another. No two days have to feel the same, even though I’m sitting at the same easel every day. This painting has already changed from what it looks like here after one additional session, but I’m keeping this photo because it’s already giving me more ideas. ... #wip #oilpainting #landscapepainting #workinprogress #dailyinspiration #studiopractice #paintingprocess

Today is the day that the online auction goes live! Many folks are familiar with the annual gala auction for the Art Gallery of Peterborough. It's usually cause for considerable excitement as bidders get the chance to take home a beautiful piece of work and support the gallery. This year, the auction has moved online AND all proceeds of the artwork sales go directly back to the artists. The artwork can be viewed in person between now and November 7th by booking a visit to the... Art Gallery of Peterborough. Photos and the auction portal are available on the gallery website. "More than ever, we’re putting the care of our community and the support of artists right at the center. Art and artists have always been at the core of our mandate. We know the arts have been hit hard by the pandemic. Artists are essential to healthy communities, and that’s why, this year, we’re directing all the proceeds from the sale of artwork directly to the artists! You heard that right! This year, when you buy art from our online auction, you’re directly supporting an artist in our community." Thank you so much, Art Gallery of Peterborough, for this great effort and for the opportunity to participate!

One day I may just have to move to a coastal town backed by green hills. I can’t seem to stop painting them. Making these small studies helps me work out colour schemes and plan for larger works. A friendly reminder about the studio tour in the news today! Action shot of varnishing an acrylic painting in my mask. :)

Something new, something different, just for fun. I think it’s done. I’ve been playing with acrylics because I have sooo many nearly-finished pots and tubes that deserve to be used. I tried out some new tools and some new ways of exploring light and landscape here. As a bonus, it’s another large piece of work to put up on the studio walls just in time for the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour. I’ll varnish it tomorrow so that it will be glowing and ready for visitors. ... Lantern...s, 2020, acrylic on canvas, 36 x 48 ... Details about the Studio Tour and a peek at the Selections Exhibit on the news. It looks like an impressive collection of work. My piece makes a little cameo!

Megan Ward Artist 30.07.2020

Although this year the tour will look different than in the past, it’s still a great way to get to know the artists in the region. This year, the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour has been extended to take place over the entire month of September, rather than a single weekend. My studio will be open for visitors by appointment only. Please email, call or message me directly to set up a time to visit Hexagon Studios. I’ll have openings here 10-5 every day of the week! The best place to get a sense of what you'll find on the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour is at the AGP's Selections Exhibit, which features a piece of work by each participant. The lovely staff at the gallery can answer any questions you may have about the artists and booking your tour appointments. The tour and the exhibit are free to see! Check the AGP website to learn more about planning a visit.

I'm busy getting new work ready for the tour, which is running the entire month of September this year. Click the link at the bottom to view artist profiles on the AGP website and learn more about how to book your studio visits.
