AND you are helping transform the lives of a family of 6. Purdys Chocolatier is a Canadian company, and the pandemic has been difficult for them, too! Thankfully, they are still able to offer their fundraising program to charitable efforts like ours.... The pandemic has been devastating for refugees, whose lives were already very, very challenging. The family we are working to sponsor has been enduring xenophobia and injustice in the country they fled to. Violence in their home country and in their first country of asylum. They need Canada! And Canada needs them - they have skills and talents to share, and want to help others, too. Isn't it wonderful that you buying chocolate can help? Thanks for your support! The Heyds are a couple in Scarborough Guildwood who were once Steering members of the Guildwood Refugee Action Committee - GRACE. GRACE is no longer active, but we are still sponsoring! We're working together with a group in Ottawa to help bring this family to Canada to reunite with a sister who made it here, also as a refugee a few years ago.

I have a very special messsge for you from Rebecca and Ricky, the people whose lives you brightened up when you decided to support the Toronto or Ottawa Chocolate for Refuge sale. Because you bought chocolate, you brought hope and care to Rebecca and Ricky and their family. YOU did it! By supporting this sale, YOU made sure that this family's living expenses are covered for a good 6 weeks or so - rent, clothing, food, transportation. The winter coats and boots they'll nee...d. The bedding, towels, and dishes and so much more. Most importantly, you are giving them the gift of CANADA. This is a family who has endured incredible hardship: violence, abuse, a dangerous escape and frightful journey to a country where they experience xenophobia and more violence. An amazing news; #Lets_build_a_bridge_for_this_family Steve Dobney has started a fundraising campaign to move Zaher Moein and his family from Indonesia detenti...on center to Canada. Zaher Moien is a wonderful and talented refugee.He is a university educated and has studied civil engineering in Afghanistan and worked with USA and Australia military forces for years. As an engineer he has built many roads, buildings ,bridges in Afghanistan and taught hundred refugees children in Indonesia. Now it is our turn to support his family and build a bridge to move them from darkness to bright future. #Please_support_no_amount_is_small.
