An artisanal tile either is or feels handmade. It usually has rough edges, an uneven texture and/or a subtle variation in colour. We love this trend because it... makes a new space feel less polished. They look hand-crafted, unique and it allows us to bring in depth and dimension to a space without adding colour. Tip: Don’t panic over the uneven joints, its part of the beauty that comes with using an artisanal tile. We sometimes have tile installer call us to complain because they’re so used to expecting perfection when laying most tiles, but this one is made to look uneven and organic. This little powder room is tucked under the staircase of our #urbantosuburbanproject The @cole_and_son_wallpapers is what kicked off this monochromatic palette. We installed a black and white marble mosaic on the floor, a custom black vanity and brass accents that repeat the gold found in the pears Because the ceiling is low (particularly compared to the rest of the main floor at 10’), we decided to paint it black to accentuate the difference. This formal dining room features muted colours, layered natural textures and a touch of glam. We love how the artwork in this room completely pulls the decor together by marrying all of the right colours. We instantly saw it as we held it up to install that this piece made every other furnishing we selected come to life. This is the very first view as you walk into our #urbantosuburbanproject Arches, trim, high ceilings, oh my! The architectural details that we incorporated into this new build project hit you all at once as you walk in. The tile inlay is both beautiful and functional and as you walk through the first set of arches to the back of the house, the coffered ceiling over the dinette further defines the space and architecture. The photoshoot for our #urbantoauburban project has finally arrived. We started designing this new build home on paper in January 2019. The project went up in record time - only three months from the dig date. We moved on to helping our clients furnish it and were delayed because winter came around and we wanted to shoot the exterior. Then Covid. Now finally - we completed the shoot (even if we had to source the accessories 4 times!). The main floor of a home in the Montreal borough of Ville St. Laurent was a blank canvas for interior designer Eugenia Triandos and her company, Hibou Design & ...Co. The homeowners had just bought the house, built in 1995, and they wanted to start from scratch in furnishing the main floor space a formal living room at the front and an open family room and dining area in the back, beyond the kitchen. This project was completed almost entirely virtually. We started it just before Covid hit and we presented our concepts all via screen shares and FaceTime sessions. We still vetted all the samples in our office before sending them out to the client for approval and the process was convenient for all parties. Our very first blue kitchen in our #bellaysstreetproject was completed over three years ago and it’s still landing magazine covers! Since then, we’ve installed dozens of kitchens, vanities and built-ins ranging from soft blues to deep greens. We had a presentation this week where the clients asked us if they should take the leap and opt for a coloured island. Yes! If you love the colour, you’ll still love your kitchen in ten years as much as you do today. Coloured cabinets are still going strong and it opens up endless possibilities to the standard, common cabinetry options.
