Working for myself, with horses, as a Social Worker Mental Health Clinician and Equine Assisted Psychotherapist has been my career's biggest dream come true and greatest adventure. When I opened in 2017 I was terrified I would not be "good enough" and would not be able to assist those that met with me and the horses. My fear told me - I didn't know enough, didn't have enough experience, wasn't ready etc..etc... But I continued on. I wanted things to be perfect and to do al...l the trainings, all the programs and everything all at once. I quickly realized (again!) "perfection" doesn't exist. I began to realize the process of Social Work - showing up for others, sharing knowledge, building therapeutic relationships, recognizing injustices and systemic issues in Society and how they manifest for us on a micro level - is where I needed to settle into and to take things ONE STEP AT A TIME. The process and unfolding of my private practice these last few years has been extraordinary and humbling. I have been honoured to work alongside those folks who have come to me for "help". I also now realize there is so much more to come - 3 years in is barely a ripple in the tide. A mere drop of rain in the ocean. I'm filled with ideas and more professional development plans. I have visions on how to better serve our community and address mental health...It is all so exciting and motivating.... ....BUT - the transition time of rest, growth and renewal has arrived. We have closed our doors for services until at least Spring 2021. I'm leaning into this rest time with my full heart and focus on myself and family. It is HARD. Goodbyes, good lucks or "see you inwhile's" are Hard.... I plan on continuing to update this FB page every month or so but will not be responding to any messages/emails/texts or voicemails. The local crises # is 310 OPEN if you are facing a mental health crises. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! The horses and I will see you in the spring!!!!

For all of us here at True Connection Equine Assisted Therapy and Hidden Cedar Stables EVERYDAY is "World Mental Health Day" or "Suicide Prevention Day" or "Bell Let's Talk Day" or "Children's Mental Health Day".....As a Social Worker and therapist I truly believe that Mental Health must be a priority in our individual and collective lives All.The.Time... Mental Health is not something to ignore or navigate alone...don't shy away from those hard conversations or feelings, don...'t be afraid to reach out or ask others how they are doing like REALLY doing... Presently, we are transitioning into a temporary closure here at Hidden Cedar Stables. I'm scared, anxious, excited and thankful. Our new herd member (human) is due in 2 weeks. Iam about to flip life as I know it upside down. My mental health is stirred up. Of course it is- Change is hard, trauma and living in the middle of a pandemic and just LIVING itself is hard. Know that you are not alone...we will always send love, healing and kindness wherever you are on this mental health path.

Hidden Cedar Stables and True Connection Equine Assisted Therapy is excited to announce that a new "herd" member will be joining the crew in October 2020. This herd member is of the two-legged, human variety. Given this, we will be temporarily closed from November 2020 to the Spring of 2021 to allow for welcoming and settling in of this new herd member. We are no longer able to accept new clients and have let our referral sources know of this transition. Dana is working ha...rd to continue servicing current and any returning clients until mid-October. There will still be many exciting things going on with the practice during the time away and we will use this Facebook page as a forum to stay connected and provide updates.
