Its been a very warm fall so far. The fava beans are growing well. You may have noticed the netting surrounding some of the beds. That isn't to keep people out: it is to prevent deer from eating everything before it has a chance to get six inches tall, let alone produce a crop. Feel free to come inside: there's a break in the netting near the downspout nearest the office door and away from the church main entry staircase.
Some of the corn is now ready for harvest.
There is a cucumber ready. With luck, there should be some zucchini a bit later this month, and some corn. Haven't grown corn before, so it has been a bit of an experiment.
You may have noticed that there is dirt/a garden bed along the south side of the church. There are fava beans planted there. They are also called broad beans.
Lately I've been gardening at the church on wednesdays, not thursdays, at about 10:50am. The snap beans are ready, as are some of the carrots. You can tell which carrots are ready by the width of the top of the root that sticks out of the soil just a little.
The plums are just about ripe now. There's quite a lot this year. Come and have some.
I won't be at church in August due to work having asked me to work that day, but I should still be in the garden on thursday mornings at around 11. The potatos are about ready to harvest, and the garlic has been harvested and will be in church on sunday ready to take home.
This thursday, I'll be in the garden from about 10-10:40 or so. There's weeding, pruning, and assorted other things needing to be done.
Snap peas, snow peas and strawberries are now producing. Feel free to come by and take some.
Growing Together gardening circle, Thursdays 11ish Come on out to plant seeds, pull weeds & worship the Creator of it all! No experience necessary :)
Tomorrow after church there will be a moving soil work party. Please come. Ruth said something about there being lunch.
