This would have been the Eleventh Annual Snow Angel Making Party at Highlands Gate in Lanark Highlands on the Sunday of the Family Day weekend which is also Valentine’s Day, February 14th! As we are all pivoting and doing different things to adapt to these restrictions that we are under here is your challenge: Make a snow angel! Make more than one snow angel! Please celebrate winter and until we can meet again next winter for the Twelfth Annual Party find a fluffy plot... of snow and create your work of art. Over these past eleven years I have done extensive, non-scientific research on the benefits of making snow angels and I have come to these conclusions: If you can get down and, even better, get up after making one, you can be grateful for your good health. Making snow angels is a magnificent investment of time that results in endless benefits. If you make your angel on the side of a hill, it is easier to get up and you won’t feel as old as you are. If you are able to drop down and create an angel when you are out walking with friends, you show vulnerability, courage and a zest for life. If your courage has encouraged others to make a snow angel, you are spreading joy and pleasure. Making snow angels with others increases the benefits exponentially. If you a try different range of motion when creating your impression, you show creativity and curiosity which is good for the soul. What I find most delightful, after flailing about, is actually lying very still in the snow and gazing up at whatever the sky has to offer that day and feeling the cold seep into my back and how the earth supports me so fully. I feel connected, grounded, grateful and still. See more

LOST Stand still. The trees ahead and the bushes beside you Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here, And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,... Must ask permission to know it and be known. The forest breaths. Listen. It answers, I have made this place around you. If you leave it, you may come back, saying Here. No two trees are the same to Raven. No two branches are the same to Wren. If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you, You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows Where you are. You must let it find you. By David Wagoner See more

We do not become healers. We came as healers. We are. Some of us are still catching up to what we are.... We do not become storytellers. We came as carriers of the stories that we and our ancestors actually lived. We are. Some of us are still catching up to what we are. We do not become artists. We came as artists. We are. Some of us are still catching up to what we are. We do not become writers.. dancers.. musicians.. helpers.. peacemakers. We came as such. We are. Some of us are still catching up to what we are. We do not learn to love in this sense. We came as Love. We are Love. Some of us are still catching up to who we truly are. ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes art | Catrin Walz-Stein

A passage from the writing of Jon Kabat-Zinn "The real meditation practice is how we live our lives from moment to moment. The challenges we face, the choices we make, the places we go, and the work that we do all become occasions for opening to the life we are actually living and the life that is ours to live if we show up fully and pay attention. You could say life itself is the meditation teacher, curriculum, and the gift that comes to us through showing up for life in ...its fullness and meeting it with our fullness.... The risk is that we will sleepwalk through large swaths of our lives on autopilot, unwittingly practicing mindlessness and getting better and better at it, and more and more remote from ourselves and the world: 'The great escape'.... It is life itself that is the meditation practice, the real arena of mindfulness. In that spirit, everything and every moment becomes practice and an occasion for waking up.... Wakefulness, as best we can muster it, brought face to face with the human condition itself, this is the challenge of a life lived, and lived fully in the only time we ever get to live or learn or love: This moment, this now."
