We would like to hear about how you and your family are coping in these uncertain times! https://www.familiesfacingcovid19.com/ Participation in this research s...tudy involves an online survey that takes 15-30 minutes to complete. You are eligible if you: 1) are a caregiver (parent or other legal guardian) of an individual with autism, 2) live in Canada, and 3) can read and write in English. What we learn from this study will help us identify the current needs and priorities of families during the pandemic. This study was approved by the University of Calgary’s Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (REB20-0737). For questions about this study, please contact the study coordinator ([email protected], 403-441-8473) or the study’s principal investigator, Dr. Carly McMorris ([email protected], 403-220-5457)

How is COVID-19 impacting your youth? The Vanier Institute of the Family, Experiences Canada, and the COVID-19 Social Impact Network are conducting a short online survey of youth in Canada: "We are asking youth across Canada about their attitudes and behaviours during the COVID-19 crisis to better understand their lived experiences in these unprecedented times and inform social policy. Your child’s participation in this survey is highly appreciated. All information is strict...ly confidential." This article has some great ideas for helping young people with ADHD work at home! This tip is my favourite: "...it will be good to think in terms of learning bursts, as research shows that children can only really focus and work effectively for 45 minutes at the most. Clinicians sometimes call this chunking engaging kids for a period of time that’s realistic for their attention span, and then giving them a break. Kids with ADHD in particular benefit when parents are able to set clear expectations in advance for how long each chunk will last and what they are to do in that time period, and then follow up to see if they did the work as expected." https://childmind.org//giving-kids-with-adhd-support-and/

The Canadian Psychological Association released this fact sheet to help parents support teens through COVID-19. The fact sheet provides great information on normal reactions to expect, what to watch for, and how to help teens stay physically distanced while still socially connecting. https://cpa.ca//PW_HelpingTeensCopeWithImpacts_COVID-19.pdf
