High River Bicycle Donation Program 10.11.2020

That's a wrap for this 5th year of the donation program in 2020! What a year it has been! I decided to stop at 100 bikes completely refurbished and either already given away to people in need or waiting to be given away! There is a pretty good stock of kid's bikes for Christmas as well! I would like to thank everyone who has supported the program either by donating bikes, or bringing them in for repair so I can continue to fund the program! Not only was I able to fix up... 100 bikes for donation but I also worked on 110+ bikes for repair, been a busy season! Special thanks to Greg and Juanita Diebolt for donating a place to store my utility trailer at Goldenview Storage! Special thanks to the RCMP Detachments in High River, Turner Valley and Okotoks for providing unclaimed bikes for donation as well! I couldn't do this without the awesome support of the Town of High River, with Christine and Michelle at the Greater Foothills Family Center in High River. They kept me hopping when a special bike was needed, or just keeping up with the bikes they were giving away!! Everyone please stay safe during these times, looking forward to next spring and the 6th year of the bike season. Take care. Bruce.

Hello everyone, so I received an awesome donation on Sunday, it is a Cannondale Chase rock climber mountain bike. It is more of an extreme ride, trail/mountain type of bike. If anyone can think of a deserving young lad or young gal that would really appreciate this bike, and wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to own a bike like this, please have them contact either myself or Christine at the Greater Foothills Family Center. I would love to put a smile on some special child's face!

The current pandemic has not stopped folks from using or needing bikes as a source of exercise or a relaxing ride on the trails! This year has been exceptionally busy with the folks at FCSS and The Greater Foothills Family Centre keeping me hopping trying to stay ahead of the bikes that are distributed to those in need! Since the program started up again on May 1st I have completed 78 bikes (so far) that were donated from many generous folks in the High River area, and even as far as Chestermere! The RCMP in Turner Valley, Okotoks and High River have provided bikes as well to the program! Thanks for your support!

I posted a link to the Bike Index site a few years ago, looks like the Calgary Police Service is seeing some potential with it now. https://calgarysun.com//a0cdce32-c810-417b-a382-e5621c5d10

A huge thank you to Christine and Michelle who get bikes from my program out to people in need through the Greater Foothills Family Centre NEW2U program!

I do receive quite a few inquiries from people who ask if I will sell them a bike, unfortunately I do not feel comfortable doing this. People have kindly donated bikes to the program with the thought that I will fix them up and give them away to people less fortunate, and that is what I do with the help of the nice folks at FCSS here in High River. Thank you for understanding. If you do need a bike, please contact the folks at FCSS at (403) 652-8620. Thanks.

It's almost time to dust off those bikes and get ready to enjoy the 2020 bike riding season! A few people have already contacted me for bike repairs, so just a quick reminder that I will start up the program in late April or early May depending on the weather. I work outside in my garage, so mother nature has to do her thing before I can do mine! :) Thank you for your continued interest and support of this little program and see you in a few weeks!

Closed for the season! That's a wrap for the program for 2019 folks! (Bikes will still be accepted for donation at the High River FCSS office or by contacting me here) Thank you to everyone who supported this 4th year of the program by donating your out grown or un-needed bicycles! Without your generous donations I couldn't keep the program going! I sincerely appreciate my Facebook friends who kept an eye out on the various FB Groups around High River and steered people n...eeding bicycle repairs towards this little program! Completing repairs for people and accepting a donation in lieu of my time helps me keep my costs neutral, and able to keep this program running year after year! Thank you to the wonderful ladies at FCSS High River and Janelle Kennedy for managing who receives the donated bikes as I get them fixed up and ready to ride again! I couldn't do it without them! A special thank you to Greg and Juanita at Goldenview Storage in High River for their support of the program now going on for it's 5th year next year! And my bike buddy Gene Hughes for all help fixing and moving bikes around! See you in the spring of 2020! Approximate start up will be May 1, 2020. Cheers!
