My name is Julie Bujas and I’ve been a teacher for almost fourteen years now, started in elementary, and now teaching Junior High Language Arts and Art. My supportive husband is in heavy equipment sales, while our five year old son @learn_with_dom (Instagram) is now in Grade 1. We live in Edmonton, AB, Canada, and we started our small business right from our newly-built home. We are a small start up business (opened May 6th, 2020) that offers Loose Parts Kits for the kiddos. Loose parts play is very open-ended. Meaning kids can use natural objects, such as mini tree slices, twigs, and rocks, to make whatever they’d like. A twig to a child, may be a pretend sword, noodles, or a pencil (depending on what they are playing). When kids play with loose parts, it allows them to explore, be creative, build curiosity, and have an imagination. It also teaches kids to problem solve, for example, you can challenge a child to build a famous structure, just by using blocks, mini logs, popsicle sticks, etc. The great thing about loose parts is that you can use them in multiple ways. One day the loose parts can be used to build a farm, then the next day, an enchanted forest. And lastly, loose parts are a great addition to any subject in school. Create letters of the alphabet with rocks and/or use buttons as counters!
