Join us for Step Into Nature Healthy Hikes on May 4! Learn more at www.healthyhikes.ca. We are thrilled that we can move ahead with the annual launch of the #He...althyHikes campaign on May 4, but as you can appreciate, we've had to adjust the messaging of this year's Healthy Hikes campaign to reflect our present times. Our past Healthy Hikes campaigns have always enthusiastically encouraged Ontarians to visit Conservation Areas, but with many Conservation Areas temporarily closed due to COVID-19 and physical distancing measures in effect, we've pivoted the campaign to focus on CA outdoor education and nature-based activities that can be done right at home. In conjunction with #StepIntoNature, we'll also be using #StepIntoNatureAtHome and #StepIntoYourBackyard on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

This link includes information about which conservation areas remain open or closed across Ontario for walking or hiking. The Ontario Government has extended th...e Provincial Park closure until May 31. The Thames Valley Trail Association (TVTA) is not scheduling any group hiking events. Hike leaders may reschedule at a later date. We appreciate your help and understanding as we all work together to help prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19. We encourage you to review and follow the advice of Public Health Officials to stay safe and protect others. https://greatlakes.guide//coronavirus-update-provincial-pa

Today on our tour we are heading west to Ganaraska Forest! It covers over 11,000 acres and is home to the headwaters of the Ganaraska River. ... . . Did you know: Ganaraska is named for one of the original Indigenous settlements in the area, Ganaraske, which means ‘the spawning place’, due to the abundance of salmon and trout in the river.
