Lately, I can’t get the thought out of my mind, if I had just one day left on this earth, what would I do? Who would I talk to? What would I say? And why wou...ld I wait until the last moment to do so? I post on here the people I love so much, photos of our family, the things we are doing from day to day, and yet, neglect to post the most important thing that holds us all together. Jesus. Can you be a good person without Jesus? Of course! Are all Christians the best advertisement for all that Jesus stands for? Um, no. Am I? Not always. I am a sinner who struggles with all the same things we all do. The difference is, Jesus does not leave me wallowing in my sin and ultimately paying the eternal price for that sin. Whether we like it or not, this world and life will end. And then what? Many don’t believe in life after death. Heaven. Hell. Judgement. But what if you’re wrong? And people who DO believe in God? Many say, if God is love, he’d never doom people to hell. If you are good enough, live the right kind of life and be a good person, you’ll go to Heaven. But this isn’t what God says. At all. This is exactly the opposite, in fact. The truth is, you can NEVER be good enough. I can never be good enough. Never be perfect. Never be holy enough for Heaven. No. One. Can. The Bible says, For ALL have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God. So then what? If it’s hopeless for all of us, then what? Except that it isn’t. Our hope is 100 percent in Jesus and His death and resurrection. Now that’s a tough one to wrap your head around in our world of if I can’t see it, it isn’t so. But there is a truth you know in your heart when you read God’s words in the Bible and believe with your whole self. I don’t have words for the knowing. It Just IS. So here it is. The facts of the Bible. God made us. We sin. All of us. Even good people. Because of this, every single one of us is RIGHTFULLY doomed to an eternity of punishment because that is the ultimate price for sin. All sin. Except for JESUS. God doesn’t want this for us. He LOVES us. More than I love my kids. More than I love my husband. He loves us more than we can even begin to imagine. We literally don’t have a word for this amount of love. So He made a way out for us. The tricky part is though, it’s not automatic. You don’t get it just by thinking it’s there or thinking there must be a God somewhere out there or by just being good. God sent His son Jesus, as a baby, to grow and live on this earth and be tempted by all the things we are, and to live in the world we live in. He spent that time teaching us HOW to live and what to do and telling of what would come. And yet, unlike us, He was not defiled by this world. He remained perfect, and in doing so, became the only one who could save us from our sin. He needed to die a horrific death as payment for our sin. The Bible tells us He took our punishment for us. The fact is, sin requires punishment. But He took that on Himself for US. And so He died on a cross, in the worst way possible so we could escape the JUST punishment our sin requires. But He is not just a man who died on the cross. He is God’s Son. So three days after His death, He rose again Completely resurrected, He showed himself to many. And then ascended to Heaven. At the end of this life, we will die. What will happen to us then? Well this is where CHOICE comes in. We’re really big on CHOICE in this day and age. But this one? THIS is the most important choice you will ever make. Are you willing to believe Jesus and all the Bible says to be true? Are you willing to ACCEPT the saving grace that Jesus gave us by dying on the cross? The saving that we don’t even deserve? The Bible says in Romans 10:9, If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. That’s it. This is salvation. This is the plan God made to take the punishment we deserve and give us HOPE and GRACE we don’t deserve, and a future with Him in Heaven. Simple. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart. You can do this today. Please do. It will change your life.
