Product Snap Shot: Landscape Fabric Wherever decorative gravel may be used in your landscape, consider placing landscape fabric underneath first. Not only will it help reduce maintenance as it prevents weeds from emerging from below, but the barrier will prevent dirt and rock from mixing which will prevent muddy spots in your gravel. Also, unlike plastic barriers, landscape fabric will allow water to pass through as well as air exchange in the soil, both very important for plant health. Professional-quality landscape fabric is available at our landscape centre in 4' or 6' widths.

Product Snap Shot: Shredded Cedar Mulch Cedar mulch is great to use in the prairie landscape. It helps suppress weeds in planting beds while maintaining soil moisture. Compared to other mulches, cedar mulch tends to stick around better in our windy climate and also doesn't deteriorate as quick. It also looks great!
