We ask you to please be patient with us during this very hectic time while we work on calling all of our patients back who had missed their appointments. If you are one of the hundreds of patients who had their appointments cancelled, do not fret, you will receive a call from us a...Continue reading

Good Afternoon Hillside Family Dental Patients, We wanted to reach out and update our status as it has been a while. Unfortunately the mandate is still to only have specific emergency dental procedures carried out in Nova Scotia. These emergency services are to be provided at the dental clinics that the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia has designated. The definition of a true dental emergency is: Odontogenic infections associated with intra-oral and/or extra-oral swell...ing that have not responded to antibiotics over the course of 2-3 days, pain that cannot be controlled with a course of antibiotics/analgesics, orofacial trauma, prolonged post-operative bleeding. We still have a dedicated phone for dental emergencies. There is a doctor on call Monday to Sunday 9am-6pm. We kindly ask you to call during these hours if you have a true dental emergency. The number is 782-234-1582. If you are looking for any administrative assistance or questions, please call our clinic at 902-434-4701 and if we do not answer please leave a message. These messages are being checked periodically and a receptionist will respond as soon as possible. We would like to extend our gratitude for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. If you had a pre-booked appointment please consider it cancelled. We are keeping a record of all appointments cancelled due to COVID-19 and will be calling these patients to reschedule the appointments once it is deemed safe to do so. We hope to see you all again soon. Take care from all of us at Hillside Family Dental Associates

Good Afternoon Hillside Family Dental Patients, We would like to reach out again for another update. At this time there have not been any changes in regards to dental treatments at this time. There are currently 8 dental clinics designated by the PDBNS across the province that are able to provide emergency care. Due to the current pandemic only true dental emergencies will be considered at this time. The definition of a true dental emergency is: Odontogenic infections associ...ated with intra-oral and/or extra-oral swelling that have not responded to antibiotics over the course of 2-3 days, pain that cannot be controlled with a course of antibiotics/analgesics, orofacial trauma, prolonged post-operative bleeding. We now have a dedicated phone for dental emergencies. There is a doctor on call Monday to Sunday 9am-6pm. We kindly ask you to call during these hours if you have a true dental emergency. The number is 782-234-1582. If you have any admin questions please call our clinic at 902-434-4701 and leave a message. These messages are being checked periodically and a receptionist will return your call as soon as possible. If you had a pre-booked appointment please consider it cancelled. We are keeping a record of all appointments that had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will be calling these patients to reschedule the appointments once it is deemed safe to do so. We would like to thank all of our patients for their understanding during this time. We hope everyone is safe and well. We look forward to seeing you all soon. Take care and stay safe from all of us at Hillside Family Dental Associates

Good Morning Hillside Family Dental Patients, Just wanting to give another update. Not a lot has changed in regards to the services we are authorize to provide at this time. We are still in the office on Mondays and Thursdays from 9am-1pm. Again, during our limited hours the office is currently closed to the public. During this time we have a dentist on site able to provide emergency care over the phone as well as triage any required emergency procedures. Once you have been ...screened and triaged by the dentist you will be referred to the appropriate clinic. We have had an influx of voice messages left outside of our limited office hours. We are trying our best to get back to everyone in a timely manner. We kindly ask that if you do have a dental emergency, please call our clinic on Mondays from 9am-1pm and Thursdays from 9am-1pm at 902-434-4701. That way we can efficiently screen and triage patients in need of emergency services. We appreciate everyones patience during this time and hope everyone is safe and well. From all of us at Hillside Family Dental.

Hillside Family Dental Associates 17.07.2020

Good Morning Hillside Family Dental Patients, We have had another protocol change as of March 31, 2020 mandated by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. In light of the recent confirmation of community spread transmission of COVID-19, we have been directed to no longer treat emergency care at our clinic, until further notice. There are three dental clinics in Nova Scotia that are designated to treat emergencies. These clinics are, the Department of Pediatric Dentist...ry at the IWK, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic at the VG as well as the Dalhousie Faculty of Dentistry. The clinics listed above are currently the only ones that are permitted to treat emergency cases in Nova Scotia at this time. We are still going to be in our office on Monday 9am-1pm and Thursday 9am-1pm until further notice. Please call 902-434-4701 within these hours if you have any questions or a dental emergency. If an emergency treatment is required, you will be assessed over the phone by one of our dentists then they will refer you to the appropriate dental clinic. If you are calling outside of these hours, please leave a message and one of our staff will return the call as soon as possible. We are working diligently to contact patients that have elective and hygiene appointments to cancel them. These cancellations will be done on a week by week basis. There have been a few instances where the contact information we have on file is outdated and are unable to reach them, please assume these appointments are cancelled for the week of April 6, 2020 and until further notice. Again, we thank all of you for your patience as we navigate through this pandemic. We are keeping records of all appointments cancelled. Once we are directed to open again we will be contacting these patients to schedule their missed appointments. From all of us at Hillside Family Dental Associates we thank you. Stay safe and well.

Dear Hillside Family Dental Patients, We are trying our best to keep everyone updated, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic protocols are changing daily. Unfortunately, we have been mandated to close our dental office until we are directed by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. We have suspended all non-essential and elective dental services immediately until further notice. Emergency treatment may continue under very strict measures. These protocols are put in pl...ace to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and community as a whole. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we ask that you are patient with us as we are navigating through unknown territory. Please know that we are doing our best to provide patients with the latest updates. We are currently contacting patients via phone to cancel appointments on a week by week basis. We are keeping records of all appointments cancelled due to COVID-19 and once we are able to, we will be contacting those patients to reschedule the appointments as efficiently as possible. Our reduced hours are: Monday 9am-1pm & Thursday 9am-1pm. During these hours our office is closed to the public for everyones safety. If you have an emergency please call 902-434-4701. What is a dental emergency? In dentistry, a true emergency situation includes oral facial trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding or pain that cannot be managed by over the counter medication. From all of us at Hillside Family Dental Associates we thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe and well. See more

Dear Hillside Family Dental Patients, In light of the COVID-19 pandemic our practice has been strongly advised by the Provincial Dental board of Nova Scotia to suspend all non-essential and elective dental treatment immediately and provide emergency treatment only. At this time we are not able to provide any hygiene or non-emergency based appointments to ensure the safety of our staff, patients, and community. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we ask... that you please have patience as we navigate though this unknown territory. This recommendation will be continuously monitored and stands until further notice. We will provide updates via our social medial and our answering machine as things progress. Please note that we will be keeping a record of all appointments that have been affected by and we will be working diligently to accommodate everyone once we resume normal business hours. We will remember them. Thank you for remembering, Canada. We take the time today to remember and thank those who have served this country and those who continue to serve.
