The transition from the military to post-service life has been shown to be a period of increased risk for mental health problems, with approximately 25 per cent... reporting mental disorders such as anxiety, depression and substance use disorders. The Veteran-Friendly Campus two-year pilot project led by the University of Alberta - Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine's Heroes in Mind, Advocacy and Research Consortium - Himarc is a great initiative to support Veterans pursuing post-secondary education: https://bit.ly/3rbMbz1 See more

Thrilled to announce that this HiMARC led initiative is going to be a reality! The Veteran-Friendly Campus at the U of A will serve those who have served us as they prepare for a bright future in the civilian world.

As we remember those who fought and continue to fight for peace, let's also salute military and veteran health-care researchers who are working to understand the impact of moral injury and develop interventions that heal. #LestWeForget https://www.ualberta.ca//healing-the-spirit-after-moral-in

Last year, The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Flag flew for the first time at the entrance to the University of Alberta's North Campus. This year, it is flying pro...udly for the first time at Corbett Hall on our newly installed flag poles. Read last year's Poppy Flag announcement: https://ualberta.ca//ualberta-raises-poppy-flag-to-remembe The Poppy Flag was raised on November 1 and will be in place until November 11 to help raise awareness of the Legion's Poppy Campaign and recognize the amazing 70-year partnership between the Royal Canadian Legion and the University of Alberta. Thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion for all that they do in supporting military and veterans. We couldn't be more happy to showcase the Poppy Flag at Corbett Hall, the home of Rehab Med's Heroes in Mind, Advocacy and Research Consortium - Himarc! #LestWeForget To support the Legion's Poppy Campaign, visit https://poppyboxabnwt.com/home

Congratulations to Rehab Med's and HiMARC's Suzette Bremault-Phillips on her recent Department of National Defence funding for her study, "Worn down by 'Wicked Moral Problems': Digitally-delivering a group moral injury intervention to frontline COVID-19 service personnel."
