The studio is open for classes today (Tuesday, November 10th) Road conditions are not great in some areas, and parking at this time is limited, so please leave yourself a little extra time to get to class. We understand that not everyone is comfortable driving in these conditions, we just ask that if your dancer will be missing, please call or email the studio and let us know. Drive safe!

Hard Work pays off!

Due to the crazy amounts of snow we received, we are calling today a snow day! We need to allow time for roads to be plowed and our dancers to be dug out of their homes. Please stay safe and warm! We are hopeful that we can open as usual on Tuesday, November 10th.

'Twas the night before school When all through the house Not a creature was stirring except for this spouse! Schoolbags sat by the front door with care... She had bathed the kids and blow dried their hair Lunches were made and shoes had been shined "I hope they don't catch it" raced through her mind The children were sleeping fast in their beds With dreams of reunions with all their friends Where classes are bubbles and tables are pods Their safety in the hands of the "government gods" When down in the kitchen arose such a clatter, Husband ran down to see what was the matter. Away to the kitchen he flew like a light His wife sat crying at the table he knew something not right "I want them to go but I want them to stay I want this bloody virus to just go away" For the first time in months her bubble had burst She thought she'd feel happier but now she feels worse The 'what-ifs' were racing around in her mind Her husband hugged her and tried to be kind We've waited for this day for schools to reopen But the mixture of change and fear had her quite frozen She feigned a smile and sipped on her tea And persuaded herself "I'll have more time for me" But six months has passed The country none the wiser Schoolbags now packed with masks and hand sanitizer But this is a good thing, for schools to reopen The children deserve it, its what they've been hoping Children of Ireland have shown such resilience Positive attitude and absolute brilliance! Love these humans! It's so nice to have some dancers back in the studio. We did a little bit of everything this week and we had a lot of fun while working hard!

We want to thank all those that have attended our summer dance camps. We had so much fun with old friends, and meeting some new friends.

We have added another recreational Acro class for ages 5-8 on Tuesdays from 6:00-645. This class runs from Sept 15 till the end of May. Price Includes performance costume. No experience necessary. Class size is limited.

Some of our amazing competitive team danced today at the Wanna Dance? Solo/Duo/Trio competition today. We are so proud of each and every one of our dancers, its never easy to go out on stage- its even harder when you were forced to take 4 months off due to a global pandemic! Each and every one of the studios entered in this competition were amazing to be around, it was so nice to do something normal as a dance community! These classes are for dancers ages 4 & 5. $325 per year and includes costume ( you keep) and classes from mid September until the end of May. We are taking every precaution in our studio to stop the spread of Covid including small class sizes, hand sanitizing stations, daily temperature checks and increased cleaning practices.

These kids brought laughter back into the studio. They worked so hard this week. More camps in August. A few spots left!

And just like that our first junior camp is done! All our dancers were so fantastic this week, we loved seeing everyone back in the studio! We still have space in our August camps, August 17th-21st, contact us for more information!

Last, but certainly not least, our graduating dancer, Angelica! Angelica has been with us for a number of years, first in our recreational program and then with our competitive team. She is a very quiet girl, and works hard in every class. She is especially fierce in Hip Hop. Angelica says I'm going to the cosmetic school next year starting in September, dance has meant a lot to me I was only there for a few years but I made lots of good friends made tons of memories and had fun while doing it all Best of Luck Angelica!! Your future is bright!

Presenting our 3rd graduating senior- Geena! Geena will be attending Red Deer College for Pre-Pharmacy for 2 years and then transferring to University of Alberta to get her degree in Pharmacy. Dance was always a fun place for her to be. She was able to be goofy and have a fun time with the friends she made and learning all the choreography for the routines. One of her favorite things was ordering the costumes and trying them on when they came. (she really does love to shop).... It was always a fun and exciting girls weekend when it was competition time. Geena has danced at HTF for for 8 years, first in our recreational program, and then with our competitive team. Geena was one of Miss Ashtons very first students at the age of three, when she did ballet dressed as a bumblebee. She will make HTF history as the girl who likes to DIY everything. Best of luck Geena! We love you and we will miss you!

Thanks to the HTF Parents Society for providing us with 5 $300 scholarships for some very deserving dancers. The HTF instructors thought long and hard and are awarding the following dancers based on work ethic, attendance and attitude. Erin Meredith ... These students will get a certificate and a medal. Its time to celebrate our next beautiful graduate, Darian! Darian has danced at Hit the Floor for 6 years. She was one also of Miss Ashtons first dancers at Ace Dancers in Bow Island. Darian will make the HTF history books by being a very unconvincing boy We will always remember and miss her sarcastic wit. Her sense of humor and work ethic will serve her well in the years to come. We love you Darian, we cant wait to see what you accomplish in the future! Darian says:... I plan to take a Bachelors in Communication at Mount Royal University majoring in Broadcast Media Studies. Dance has always been an outlet for me and it has taught me so many valuable lessons over the years. My favourite memory is swimming at the hotel in Calgary with all my fellow dancers. See more
