July 6th Hive inspection Here is a prime example of a hive trying to swarm. The Queen runs out of room in the hive and releases a pheromone to the other bees telling everyone to make more queen cells. Once the queen cells are capped the queen will leave the hive and take half the population with her. Very bad for a bee keeper!! There is plenty of room for the queen in this hive as we added as second broom chamber but it is tough to stop a hive once they are in "swarm" mode lol. Great shots of the queen and other queen cells. Enjoy

Hundreds of tiny fans trying to cool the hive as we did our last inspection and let the sun shine in. Sound on!

June 29th inspection/adding another brood chamber Unfortunately the action videos were corrupted on my phone and this is the only video I could salvage from the last inspection. Unfortunate as it was a big day! We added second brood chamber as the hives filled the bottom brood chamber already. Both hives were creating queen cells to swarm so more room was needed. Very important that you get out to check your hives as I would have lost half my bee population if they were su...ccessful in creating queens. This video explains what we did. Cheers

Sneaky queen in one of our hives but we found her! Video of her laying eggs like a machine. One queen bee can lay up to 2000 eggs in a day! Super cool to watch.
