Ordered more 6 frame nuc boxes. Soon it will be time to make splits and start grafting to make queens. Need more bees!
I took advantage of this unusually warm weather for the end of February (7c). I hefted all the hives to check for food reserves and cleaned off the bottom boards of dead bees. I do not have to open the hive as I have metal pull out trays sitting on my solid bottom boards. The bees also took advantage of this warm weather and were doing their cleansing flights. All 28 colonies still alive.
I am looking forward to this presentation.
Winter project: converted an old fridge into a Queen cell incubator that doubles as a warmer for crystallized honey.
The winter wrapping continues with another roof top apiary done. Bee Cozy’s and inner cover pads on, plenty of feed, and mite treatments done.
Mid season splits are coming along nicely!
The Queen was rocking her new pink bee jacket today!
Made some splits to stock the new Bee Yard.
Set up a new bee yard today.
Set up a new bee yard today. I will add some splits to these 6frame nuc boxes in a week or two.
