Rug washing the proper way. Only a handful of companies in Canada have the ability and knowledge to hand wash rugs. This is the proper way to do it. I always get asked how do you do it and how much. We take rug cleaning courses to learn this craft. The steps involved are. 1. Dust the rug 2. Immerse the rug in a bath... 3. Apply rug cleaning solutions tailored to the type of rug. Ie wools vs. Polyester require different shampoo 4. Rinse the rug 5. Repeat if necessary Rug washing requires a lot of labor. Natural fibers the coat is $4.50 per square foot and $2.80 to $3.50 per square foot. So the companies charging $49 for a rug are really just steam cleaning.
