For this #WednesdayWisdom, we introduce you to a specific brand of Naval Camouflage used during the Battle of the Atlantic. Remaining unseen by surfacing submar...ines and enemy aircraft or vessels was an important ability for Canadian ships escorting merchant vessels during the Battle of the Atlantic. One technique developed to aid in the protection of Canadian ships was the famous Admiralty disruptive paint scheme. These lines and shades of blue were painted across Canadian ships in an effort to break up the ship’s silhouette on the horizon. Check out these retro photos, and modern paint schemes. What did you do last weekend? This past weekend, members of HMCS and other units in Western Canada worked together both on the water and in the Operations center to successfully execute a small boat exercise in Vancouver, B.C. Commander Banke, Commanding Officer Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) and members of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) of Southern Alberta, presented the CFLC Certificate of Appreciation plaque to Marnie Saunders and Len Copp of Xpera Risk Mitigation and Investigation for their outstanding support of Operation LASER on March 17th, 2021, in Calgary, AB. The award was nominated by Sailor Third Class Bauer as a way to recognize his civilian employer for their ...support. The support of reservists by civilian employers is critical for our members to continue to further the mission of the Naval Reserve. Sailor 1st class Lisa Foggin, member of HMCS Tecumseh, took part in the Remembrance Day ceremony in the town of Magrath, AB today. Typically S1 Foggin would be participating in the Remembrance services in Calgary but due to covid19, she was able to be present in her home town for a service following covid19 precautions. She had the honour of laying a wreath in behalf of The Canadian Armed Forces and was proud to stand at attention in honour of those who served from southern A...lberta. #mycaf #rememberthem #canadaremembers La matelot de 1ère classe Lisa Foggin, membre du NCSM Tecumseh, a participé aujourd'hui à la cérémonie du jour du Souvenir dans la ville de Magrath, AB.
