Ssshhh there are baby potatoes napping in here! Hopefully they wake up soon so I can nurture them, feed them and water them, and then EAT THEM Got these lovely hessian sacks from @mojacoffee and apparently they’re great for growing potatoes. Just a bit of dirt in the bottom, then you hill them up with straw as the stalks grow. Each time you hill up you give more room for offshoots of delicious potatoes! All of my creativity and waking (and sleeping) thought is going into this garden. Just put in four days of hard work and it’s starting to take shape! Dreaming of hazy summers lying in my hammock and perhaps dusting off my sketchbook to record my plant babes

What the What? you may be asking yourself. Inside each one of these 52 water and milk jugs are different seeds just waiting to pop up when they’re ready. It’s called Winter Sowing. A rather different type of sowing to the sewing I’ve been doing for the past year! You put soil in, water, add seeds, water again and seal. Or just pop the tops on in the case of the water bottles. You leave the lids off, so the seeds/plants get water naturally and are protected from the elements until they’re ready to be planted out. It’s bloody brilliant and so much better than starting seeds indoors. And I get to reuse! Can’t wait to see how all these babes turn out

Can’t wait to transform this patch of dirt into a bee haven Ground is packed hard so I’m building up a bed with layers of cardboard, branches, leaves and straw. Then will add some homemade compost to house my plant babes. Strawberries in the front, loads of flowers in the middle. And maybe some climbers in the back on a trellis made from lilac branches, got some nice straight ones to play with. Been thinking about this bed all winter, can’t wait to see it blooming in a few months
