They aren't paying any attention apart from the apology, that's it, she said. Today is to bring attention to all levels of government that they had a hand in the destruction of Africville. https://www.thechronicleherald.ca//protestors-march-to-d/

Please take a moment to send a letter of support for this proposed temporary modular housing project planned for the Hogans Alley Block from this easy to complete letter generator. This project will prioritize Black and Indigenous peoples who are street homeless or relying on shelters for accommodation as these populations face increased rates of poverty and economic exclusion. [Action Requested] What: Open House for Temporary Modular Housing When: Wednesday August 15, 2018 Time: 4 pm to 7 pm, Where: 220 Jackson (Buddhist Temple) ... The City of Vancouver will be hosting the first open house for the Temporary Modular Housing project planned for the Hogan’s Alley block. The project will prioritize Black and Indigenous people who are over-represented among the homeless population in Vancouver. It will also be one of the important first steps in establishing the long-term vision for the Hogan’s Alley site which will prioritize opportunities for Black Canadians and includes a range of inclusive market and non-market rental housing, commercial and social enterprise spaces, child care and a cultural centre. There is a risk of significant opposition to this housing project and to the Hogan’s Alley initiative in general so your visible support at this event will be very valuable.

Join Vanessa Richards on a walk and talk with her and other folks keen on history, futurity and the just city. 1pm starting on Union St at Main. More details on events page. The annual, international and awesome Jane’s Walk initiative sets out to:... ... develop urban literacy and a community-based approach to city building by encouraging citizen-led walking tours that make space for every person to observe, reflect, share, question and collectively reimagine the places in which they live, work and play. In this way, we honour the legacy of Jane Jacobs whose writings championed the voices of local residents in neighbourhood planning. Photo credit- Fred Herzog, Vancouver
