Just over here, trying to activate my memories of my AI training We halter broke this girl as a 2 year old 5 years ago so my son could her baby calf in the 4H show. Haven't had a halter on her since, but she's just a big old leash broke puppy dog.
I have been taking a break from my farm videos. I will start them up again soon! In the meantime, here's a peak at some of my daily chores: Pig chores! ... First I mix their ration. Each pail weighs about 11 kilograms, just shy of 25 lbs. I carry 2 of these pails in each hand. I then fill each pail to the top with the hose. They then each weigh about 18 kg, around 40 lbs. I then lift the pail over the fence to dump it. Its about 3'. I do take the shortcut of using my side by side to take the pails to the hydrant and then thr pigs pen! I usually do these chores mid day, since my pigs like to sleep in. Which I appreciate! That wind is a bit breathtaking today. "Literally" lol!!!
Happy Chickens!
Let's hope we get some moisture!
I had this custom firepit .are for my husband for Christmas, from Carnduff Carriage Works. If you have seen our farm sign by the road, they made that as well. We couldn't be happier with the work and artistry! We LOVE IT!! Been getting plenty of use with this nice weather. ... Check them out!
Been on a bit of a break... Happy New Years! For NYE supper, we enjoyed these tomahawk steaks we cut. First seared on an open flame and then roasted in the oven. The meat was falling off the bone and we used butter knives to cut. Love this cut!
December 19, 2020 This week we made jerky, breakfast patties and meatballs. Kids and I ran some cows through the chute to ivomec and give them new tags and castrated a few calves. The announcement of no outside visitors bummed us out hard. I returned to the gym, sucked it up and worked out with a mask on. Gotta take care of ourselves! ... Ready to roll on and make the best of it. Here's 13 lbs of jerky marinating! It was delicious too.
This is a really good one!
December 12, 2020 This was a great week! I didn't make a farm video, but here's some highlights! I had a birthday, we taught the boys to play crib, we started cutting the steer we harvested 2 weeks ago, I made candles from rendered lard and schooled the kids.... Welcome to 1948.
What else you gonna get a cowgirl for her birthday but a trailer full of panels?! Let the games begin...
