We are home!!!!We are home!!!!
It's hard to define everything that has happened on this trip. Memories were made, friendships were formed and lives were changed. As we sit in the airport getting ready to board our plane home, we are now all reflecting on our time here in Africa. Joy, sadness, passion, heartache, hope..these are just a few ways we could describe some of the emotions we are currently feeling as we say goodbye. As a team we were united in all things Africa and we want to take this opportunit...y to once again thank every person who has supported us through social media, prayer or finances. Stay tuned in the hours to come for a final Facebook live that will breakdown all we accomplished on this trip. In the days to follow, we will also be posting more photos and videos to share with all of you. So long Africa, until we meet again! And we will see you Canada in about 30 hours!
Today was a great day mixed with organized chaos, pure joy and of course more shinanagins! We taught 3 more great classes, fed and entertained almost 200 children for most of the day, (thanks Luke and Denis) explored the heart of the village and spent time with locals. Then we held a dance competition before wrapping up another day on the mission field.... Our day ended earlier than usual so we decided to head to the lake down the street and spent some time swimming and also enjoyed a local meal on the beach with our two Congo leaders, who came from Goma to spend time with us. Because of the risk of not being able to return from Congo due to Ebola concerns and restrictions, we are unable to cross over the boarder as previously planned. They are sincerely an amazing team serving the Goma/Minova area and we were blessed to spend time with them. A few of us headed out for a walk after we returned back to the hotel and were able to explore the evening streets and markets of Gisenyi. It was great to see real city life in action first hand, outside of the villages. And now it's time for bed! Our days are drawing closer to an end, but until then, we still have work to do!
