KERMODE BEAR or SPIRIT BEAR, named in honor of Francis Kermode, a zoologist who conducted the first studies in 1905. In 1928 they were reclassified a subspecies of the Black Bear. They are found only in the Great Bear Rainforest ( British Columbia, Canada) and a few adjacent areas. Kermode Bears are the result of a rare recessive gene, that both parents must possess. It is estimated that there are only about 1500 true Kermode Bears in the world, of which about 200, yes two hu...ndred, are white !!! Meet Clover, the ONLY Kermode Bear in captivity IN THE WORLD !!!!!! Found orphaned at about 10 months old, every effort was made to rehabilitate him back into the wild. All attempts failed. Rather then letting him parish, BC WILDLIFE PARK ( in Kamloops BC) took him in. Through extensive fund raising, Clover now resides in his own 2.5 acre forested habitat. 2019. Today, Clover is an 8 year old MAGNIFICENT SPIRIT BEAR, who weights aprox 500 lbs, capturing the hearts of anyone lucky enough to get a glimpse of him. An unforgettable experience. Amazing Costa Rica

YAMNUSKA WOLFDOG SANCTUARY Just west of Cochrane, Alberta, is Canada's only wolf dog sanctuary. Exactly as the name suggests the animals are a cross between a wolf and a dog. They don't make ideal pets and many are surrendered. There are high / mid / low content animals. The content refers to the part that's wolf. The black, white and light colored ones in my images are high content, likely more then 90% wolf. Go check it out !!!!
