#HoldensBookClub // This book actually doesn’t dive too deep into Bryant and his life, but instead centers on the rape accusations brought against him back in 2003. It’s a very well-put together and engagingly written book an in-depth account of the hard facts of that case, but transformed into a super readable novel. There was a later chapter, in particular, that was really thought-provoking about Kobe's defense team and the ways they planned to destroy the girl's credibility in court. I devoured this book in two days and would recommend you give it a read.
There's something familiar and comforting about the colour blue.

#HoldensBookClub // I’d say this book is essential reading for anyone working in sales or just about any other position. Daniel Pink really humanizes the sales process and takes a deep dive into the modern state of sales. In contrast to the classic old school ABCs of sales (Always Be Closing), he positions the modern salesperson as a friendly figure whose job is to build a relationship with the customer and help fulfill their needs, rather than pull the wool over their eyes.... His new age ABCs Attunement, Buoyancy, Clarity are based around this more empathetic view of sales. He credits this shift in salesmanship to the shift of power and information into the hands of consumers. Whereas the stereotype of the used car salesman has long been one of a trickster trying to make a buck by fooling the purchaser, today, buyers have stats on different car models, can access a car’s purchase and repair history, and can leave a bad review online if they feel they’ve been duped. So a new model had to emerge, centered around humble listening and responding. Pink further expands on this line of thinking to discuss how sales has permeated our day-to-day lives, with soft sales and influence, or "non-sales selling, found everywhere in our work and personal lives today. I don’t typically go in on sales-related books, but I found this one to be engaging, enlightening, and well-researched. I can’t recommend it highly enough. See more
Being myself, discovering who I am, and then being true, every day, to who I am, is truest freedom and treasure I savor every day.
What would you rate this 1-10?
#HoldensBookClub // Great book. Changed how I think about setting and following a budget. If you’re seeing this and don’t currently have a budget, I strongly suggest you give You Need A Budget a read. Mecham’s writing is persuasive and incredibly helpful, with practical rules and strategies you can easily put into effect to get a handle on your long-term finances. This book teaches you to rethink budgeting not as a restrictive practice but as a way to set yourself up to hit... goals, using your budget to design the life you want. The core tenet of the book is to ask, What do I want my money to do for me? And then to design your budget based on your answers. It’s simple, actionable, and well-organized advice on setting a personal budget, working as a couple to put together a budget, and even teaching kids the basics of budgeting, and it really showed me that budgeting can and should be a liberating rather than a limiting practice. A completely brilliant book. The 4 Rules of YNAB 1. Give Every Dollar a Job. Be proactive. Decide on priorities first, then assign dollars. 2. Embrace Your True Expenses. Budget for future expenses, whether they happen regularly or irregularly. 3. Roll with the Punches. Change your budget as necessary to fit changing situations and priorities. 4. Age Your Money. Increase the time between receiving money and spending it, to be more secure and flexible. Aim for at least 30 days. See more
