When reading before bed, take turns reading aloud. Kids enjoy this special time with their parents. When your child makes a mistake, gently point out the letters he or she overlooked or read incorrectly. Keep it light and fun.

Remember that children use their emotions to tell them what is important to learn and remember. Positive emotions inspire us to pay attention. Negative emotions... (such as frustration, fear, and anxiety) turn off the brain’s switch for learning. Be a coach. Praise your child’s efforts. Encourage your child to learn from mistakes. Celebrate your child’s learning process! See more

The spirit of giving is alive at Holy Name! We are well over halfway to our $1000 goal for our Advent Project of Fill Our Stable, Spread the Light! This stable of animals includes a cow, goats, piglets, hen, rooster, chicks, sheep, a donkey and animal feed for an impoverished community. If we surpass our goal, all money will be donated to our local Salvation Army to help those in need. There are spirit days throughout the month to encourage donations. Donations can be made through School Cash Online. Tomorrow is Hat Day! All students are encouraged to participate and wear their favourite hat or toque!

During the Advent season and the spirit of giving, Holy Name of Mary Catholic School is working towards raising $1000 which will "Fill a stable" for those living in an impoverished community. This includes providing a family with a cow, goats, a donkey, a rooster, hen and chicks, some sheep, piglets and animal feed. Please consider making an online donation towards our school's Advent project called Fill Our Stable, Spread the Light. There will be various activities for stu...dents to participate in throughout December to encourage online donations, including dress up days and a school wide Bingo. Chalice is the organization, supported by our school board, which we are supporting through this project in hopes of raising enough money to fill a stable. More information to come about spirit days and Christmas activities! No cash will be collected at the school (this is the only way to contribute). Please note: No tax receipts will be issued. In support of this project - Tomorrow is...... See more
