Lent DAY 6 - February 23 Today’s Reading 2 Corinthians 2:12-17 When I came to Troas to proclaim the good news of Christ, a door was opened for me in the Lord; but my mind could not rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said farewell to them and went on to Macedonia.... But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads in every place the fragrance that comes from knowing him. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not peddlers of God’s word like so many; but in Christ we speak as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from God and standing in his presence. Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Loving God, may your sweet perfume waft its way into our midst, saturating our presence and acts of love and concern for others that we may become a soothing balm, bringing peace and comfort, joy and hope, especially in times of disappointment and distress, fear or frustration. Amen. HAVE A BLESSED TUESDAY

Lent DAY 5 - February 22 Today’s Reading 2 Corinthians 2:1-11 So I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit. For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained? And I wrote as I did, so that when I came, I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice; for I am confident about all of you, that my joy would be the joy of all of you.... For I wrote to you out of much distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain, but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you. But if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but to some extentnot to exaggerate itto all of you. This punishment by the majority is enough for such a person; so now instead you should forgive and console him, so that he may not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. So I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. I wrote for this reason: to test you and to know whether you are obedient in everything. Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. What I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ. And we do this so that we may not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs. Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Lord Christ, give us the ability to recognise when we hurt each other, the grace to acknowledge what we may have said or done, and the humility to seek understanding and forgiveness. Amen. HAVE A BLESSED MONDAY

TODAY'S PRAYER Almighty God, whose Son fasted forty days in the wilderness, and was tempted as we are but did not sin, give us grace to discipline ourselves in submission to your Spirit, that as you know our weakness, so we may know your power to save; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for eve.. Amen (The Book of Alternative Services) HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!

Lent DAY 4 - February 20 Today’s Reading 2 Corinthians 1:17-24 Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans according to ordinary human standards, ready to say ‘Yes, yes’ and ‘No, no’ at the same time? As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been ‘Yes and No.’ For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not ‘Yes and No’; but in him it is always ‘Yes.’ For in him every one of God’s promises i...s a ‘Yes.’ For this reason it is through him that we say the ‘Amen’, to the glory of God. But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us, by putting his seal on us and giving us his Spirit in our hearts as a first instalment. But I call on God as witness against me: it was to spare you that I did not come again to Corinth. I do not mean to imply that we lord it over your faith; rather, we are workers with you for your joy, because you stand firm in the faith. Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Lord Christ, may we who are marked with the cross, your seal of love, be mindful that we should live lives sealed with your spirit of humility, always thinking less about ourselves and more about those whom we are called to serve with grace and joy. Amen. HAVE A HOLY LENT!

Matthew 25:36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Liberating God, grant that all people of faith and all devoted to the liberation of the body, mind and spirit, will work to see that day when we are all free and are standing together, unchained and unshackled. Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Lord God, we who have known what it means to be hungry, to be thirsty, to be a stranger, or to have been deprived of something good, pray that the eyes of our hearts may be opened to discern the needs of those who long for justice and compassion, that our hands be strengthened, and our feet ...quickened to respond. Amen. WEDNESDAY BLESSINGS!

Matthew 25:34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Lord God, in whose presence we find joy and fulfilment, grant that everything we do will please your sacred heart, and be a source of joy and delight for all whose lives we touch. Matthew 25:31-32 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. Lord, One Line (LOL) Today (by Stephen Fields) Lord God, when I stand before you at the end of this day and reflect on what I attempted and what I accomplished, I pray that you will accept and bless the good ...I would have done and forgive me where I may have fallen short. Amen. MONDAY BLESSINGS!

A wonderful sermon on this, #HTS - #HolyTrinitySchool Founders Day: "Give us the strength that does not hurt, by thought or deed, the weak. Use our power properly, as God intended."
