As usual I am always interested in buildings and architecture so could not resist getting to the mountains for some country cosiness! Recently had a getaway at @crmresorts at the beautiful Buffalo Mountain Lodge, nestled in and amongst soaring forest trees in the Banff Rocky Mountains. Wearing my new warm wool weekender coat from @maisonsimons, we enjoyed a drive way up into the rockies past Spray Lakes in our Mini Clubman, which handled the terrain great! Dinner was light ...but delicious with ravioli and a big yummy stuffed sandwich from their dining room. Grabbed a bottle of BC Burrowing Owl wine for the night, made a roaring fire in the fireplace in our room and watched the excellent British drama Flack on Amazon Prime, an addictive glamorous show about a London p.r. firm. In the morning, we had breakfast delivered to our cabin and enjoyed our little feast in bed, and enjoyed it in front of yet another fire while we woke up slowly. RENOS RENOS RENOS! It's the season for renos! If you are not moving, now is the time to refresh your home this spring. In this kitchen, we are putting new handles. The cabinets were painted, so the old paint underneath the old handles needs touching up, but look what a difference these new handles make. Painting cabinetry and adding new handles are an inexpensive way to refresh your dated kitchen. The paint colour is Taos Taupe by @benjaminmoore, and these lovely, solid, stur...dy handles are from @amazoncan. I love Benjamin Moore paint and have used this brand exclusively as a designer. These old cabinets were cherry wood underneath, and did not match the oak floors and walnut closets. This taupe paint colour is timeless and elegant. Always refresh, renew, recycle where you can. It is better for the environment and less expressive! I came across this excellent article by The Spruce about what 'great bedding' actually is when it comes to buying sheets. I found this informative, especially about the 'high' thread count sheets being touted on the market these days. Did you know sheet manufacturers were able to 'up' their thread count simply by using two ply cotton fibers, but counting them as individual--therefore they were selling 400 thread count sheets that in reality were 200 double strand fibers?
