We are offering Luxury camping on our farm in Prince Edward Island. Starting May Long Weekend 2020 till end of September 2020. It will cost $120 per night sharing, for a minimum of 2 nights. Well dear friends, I am Getting ready to start writing that cookbook. So stay tuned!! We've had a busy summer getting settled in PEI. We bought 98 acres of woods and fields. And a +_ 200 year old heritage home. The house had been recently insulated and drywalled. But there was no kitchen! Can you see me with no kitchen?!?!! So #1 on the list was to put in a kitchen. We did all the work with a lot of help from our children and grandchildren. Then we had to prepare a bedroom o...n the main floor for my mother who lives with us. On e that was done, I could complete the unpacking. Then we had to work out a way to heat the house. It came with an old old pellet stove which sounds like a Mac truck idling in the diningroom . The oild furnace was dilapidated and the ducts perishing. We included a wood burning cookstove in the kitchen - yay! And we installed a mini split heat pump with 4 headers. Again we did the job - my husband is a great handyman, and I'm good at sourcing stuff out, helping to hold, fetch, push and pull. Then we had to order all new windows. We went with inserts. John is about a third of the way installing those. We moved the seacan (which we used to transport all our stuff easy) into position, 25 feet apart and erected a roof over the gap to make a barn. One seacan is for a workshop. The other for storage. We had to have a new well drilled because the antique well water was not fit to drink. The seller was supposed to have that all sorted out before we took possession, but they thought it would just go away. But our lawyer withheld a large sum of money in case - good for him. The deep water well is drilled and new pump and pressure tank installed, and water is running in the house again. Samples will be taken tomorrow morning and sent in to be tested. Then there were all the nitty gritty things like getting phones hooked up, and internet installed, bank accounts opened, power switched on, health cards moved to PEI, vehicles inspected and registered. And to top it all our son and his wife had a baby just three weeks after arriving in PEI . But all in all we've had a fantastic summer!! Now - it's time to write a cookbook . See more
