Aquatic Truce Our water world, our world of water Drifting through space, trying to find its place;... This little blue dot, like floating on waves, can sustain us all, but only if we behave; The water on our planet, in all of its forms: Ice, oceans, clouds and springs, and with a bang, the precipitation from mighty storms Emerging from the water, we humans were created, our fragile bodies, relics of this evolution; religion, need to be debated. Fed by our curiosity, water was the medium, allowing us to ship out to sea, the mariners excitement never drew hypocrisy Our ancient cities were formed on the banks of mighty fertile rivers Fresh water allowed us to grow and expand, it is Life’s ultimate giver, all in the palm of our hand Now we are faced with issues so grave, it is quite evident that we in fact, did not behave. Rivers running dry, springs depleting, the source of all our prosperity, is rapidly fleeting. Our vast hydrologic resources, used to dilute, our so called ‘essential’ products,that really only pollute Fields of plenty remain very thirsty, inefficient use of water you say? Great, now the wells too dirty. Conservation and protection, two words that often cause deplore, especially from those who think water scarcity will not lead to war. Technology can help, but only so much, we need to be much more cautious, in everything we touch. It's time to question our use and abuse of Life’s essential element.
