After all the rain, in the middle of a pandemic, small pleasures are a delight.

Updated September 15th, 2020: With the continuing Covid-19 situation as everyone's priority, and travel and contact restrictions almost constantly being adjusted, we are here and ready when you need us. Life goes on with appointments and work, and any other reasons you need a place to call your temporary home. We have made a few changes to help keep us all as secure and safe as possible. One full "buffer" day has been inserted before and after all bookings, to allow sufficien...t time for cleaning and sanitizing protocols between guest stays, so there are no back to back bookings at present. Also, as much as I enjoy baking treats for guests, only commercially packaged snacks and breakfast items are available in our welcome basket. You will also find extra soap and sanitizer has been placed in the guest area. We also assure that check-in is kept contactless, by use of the key lockbox with entry password, located next to the rear guest entry door. If you are feeling unwell, the decision to stay home is your best choice, and cancellations are perfectly okay. There is always another day and stay! On the Airbnb site, Airbnb.com, you will find lots of information on how we are supported as hosts and guests during this challenging time. The reasons I love our garden, especially the perennials -- every day gives an opportunity to see something new -- Nature is full of surprises. All the garden needs now is visitors to come, stay a while, relax and enjoy. Hope to see you soon!

A great weekend coming up in Barrie! The Barrie Waterfront Festival kicks off Friday through Sunday at Centennial Beach Park in downtown Barrie. There will be a midway, live bands, family activities and food, glorious food. Fingers crossed for some warm, sunny weather! For more info, go to www.simcoe.com/events

Almost Easter, and thank goodness the Easter Bunny has lots of warm fur! Hopefully Spring temperatures will soon arrive. :) There are many Easter activities in the Barrie area this coming weekend, including Easter egg hunts. For more information on local activities go to www.tourismbarrie.com

Returning visitors may notice that the large goldfish that have shared the studio for several years have been replaced by four smaller versions. As with our human guests, we sometimes need to make adjustments for the optimum comfort of everyone. The big guys have moved upstairs into a much larger tank, and their offspring have taken their place. We love it when everyone is happy!

Ice fishing on Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay still has 3 weeks to go before huts need to be removed -- come on up to Barrie, and defrost with us, after a fun day of fishing!

Thanks to The Uptique Boutique in Orillia, our Studio guest bathroom now has a breath of Spring in the form of this lovely restored dresser, perfect for storing towels and toiletries. What a perfect way to cheer up our guest space during days of wintry weather -- thank you, Janet, for your beautiful work! This talented lady has many beautiful items on sale in her store, including furniture and home decor. She also offers workshops on furniture refinishing. Ice fishing is in full swing on Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie! We are less than a 10 minute drive to Minet's Point and the lake, and have a few weekends available for your cosy stay after a day of fishing. As a host, I enjoy creating snacks and breakfast dishes for our guests. It is always a pleasure to be able to enhance their enjoyment of their Airbnb experience; but when a guest unexpectedly reverses roles and creates a delicious treat like this fresh apple galette for us, we feel like guests ourselves! Ice fishing season is here! Kempenfelt Bay is freezing well, thanks to the Arctic temperatures -- but before you rush to put out ice huts, please check with local authorities as to safety of the ice thickness. As the weather gets colder and the holidays approach, we are reminded that not everyone is lucky enough to have a safe, warm home to live in or a safe place to stay. One of the amazing organizations that is always here to help in the Barrie area is Youth Haven Canada. They watch out for some of the most needy on our streets, homeless youth, and try to help with events throughout the year. Boxes of Hope is a very special event coming up on November 29th.
