Christina Lo, the owner and proprietress is, for all intents and purposes, a new vegan even though she will not call herself vegan due to her continuing to prepare meat based dishes for others. She has embraced the principles of Veganism and the plant-...based lifestyle. I remain hopeful- as I am sure she does as well- that the Vegan and the Vegetarian communities here in Calgary and beyond will come to embrace Homey Food equally. The current situation has been making it extremely difficult for small businesses, in particular when they serve niche markets. Calgary is a large city with a thriving vegan/veggie community along with a population where there is a growing interest in healthy and alternative food options. In short, Calgary certainly has room for a successful Asian veggie grocery store. Homey Food has an extensive selection of foods: Frozen, in individual/family and food service quantities. Dry Foods, generally reconstituted through soaking them in water or broth. This includes the popular Butler's Soy Curls, ordered in on request. Sauces, spices, etc. Noodles, rice, wheat, konjac, mung bean, etc. Both gluten and gluten free. Steamed buns, vegan and vegetarian. Chao cheese in bulk. Plant-based Jerkies.
