After a cancelled event in late February (due to Covid) we were actually able to meet with the WIND network today (virtually of course) to discuss whats happening in the home building and development industry. Great discussion and loads of ideas with these ladies. So happy to see everyone and hear how they are managing the crisis. Thanks to Gisele Danis for taking us through some brands DOs and DONTs.

The WIND Group was hosted last night by Jay Westman and treated to a tour of Westman Village. OMG! What a remarkable mixed use village in Calgary's deep south. We were blown away by the quality of the development, the attention to programming and their remarkable hospitality. Unbelievably impressive! Truly the highlight of the evenig was our 'one-on-one' time with was our key note speaker - Carol Uxtoby, President and CEO of Heritage Pointe. Carol's openness and honesty about her journey made us all comfortable. She told us that it is important for us to determine what we want and if we choose to climb the corporate ladder - than to enjoy each rung along the way!

Attended the IWF (Calgary Chapter) AGM yesterday in Banff. Am so humbled by this group of female leaders, representing all sectors: medicine, transportation, arts/culture, business services, finance and investment and more. Feeling so appreciative that I get to hang with these lady leaders. Hoping to pay it forward....like they do.... Thanks to Banff Centre CEO Janice Price for hosting us. And, congrats to the Banff Centre on their announcement today. AB legend and 92 year old community leader - Jenny Belzberg made a significant gift to transform the Banff Centre Theatre. Now that's leadership and placemaking, combined into one.

I had the great privilege of hosting a panel discussion today for the Calgary Downtown Association, AGM. My panel counterparts,Trent Edwards (Brookfield Residential), Greg Guatto (Aspen Properties) and Ken Toews (Strategic Group) discussed the resiliency of Calgary's downtown core, how their organizations were optimistic and investing, and what they would do to enliven our city brand if they were 'king or mayor' for a day. Such an honour to be asked to build the panel discussion and meet the CDA membership. Big kudos to the small but mighty CDA team for organizing a great turn out.

Thoroughly enjoyed the VIP opening of Urban Fare last night at The Royal. This urban brand represents convenience and luxury in the grocery channel. So impressed. Public opening today...check it out.

Tonight our group welcomes Lesley Conway (former CEO of Hopewell Residential) to our WIND event at Inner City Brewing. Well have a huge turnout for Lesley as she takes us through the highs and lows of leadership in the Real Estate sector.

Our client Calgary Downtown Association asked us to help recruit a new Manager, Marketing and Communications. Today wed like to introduce Kim Wiltse and welcome her to the CDA team. We found Kim in a list of 180 applicants and she stood out because of her work with Cushman & Wakefield, Royop Development Corporation and Napa Auto Parts. ... Shes a collaborative marketer with a solid retail and space activation background. A great fit for the CDA team!

Could not keep Gisele out of the action yesterday. We were refreshing our brand education with Duncan Wardle (@duncanwardle) and he reminded us of our early learnings from Coca-Cola and The Walt Disney Corporation, which we might have forgotten over the years. Thanks Duncan. I had a new learning too....about the naive expert. That person - from outside our industry and circle - who must be brought into our discussions not to disrupt but rather to ask questions and test o...ur thinking, our stated values, and our position and promise.... In other words a consumer to keep us honest!

Putting the last minute finishes on our Parks Canada staff and public engagement sessions this week. Parks Canada is reviewing the management plan for Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, Yoho, Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks. The management plan is the main public accountability document for our national parks and is rewritten every 10 years. It's a road map that guides Parks Canadas work to protect natural and cultural resources; to facilitate visitor experiences and learning opportunities. Very fortunate to be working in Yoho, Kootenay, Mount Revelstoke and Glacier parks this week in support of the new management plan.
