This quote (author unknown) really hits home for me and reminds me that I still feel guilty for not wanting to respond or give people constant access to me. The price has nothing to do with money, and everything to do with boundaries, mental health, value, and respect. As an individual who lives with depression, I’ve learned to place great value on my personal time. The time and practices I’ve set into place for myself are necessary in order to be the best version of mysel...f, the best friend, colleague, and business owner. Before learning how to set (and keep) healthy boundaries and ensure I had sacred time for myself, I thought I had to be easily and almost immediately accessible to friends, family, colleagues, and clients. It was exhausting and I started resenting communication all together. There are still times when I find myself feeling guilty for choosing time to myself over responding to a client email as soon as it comes in. Unlearning what society and my industry deems correct is a long and tricky process. I’ve experienced backlash from clients and even other vendors who believed I wasn’t responding fast enough to their emails which resulted in a negative review (I’ll discuss expectations, negative reviews and reviews in general in a future post). I know many wedding vendors who have the mindset of If I don’t reply within x minutes, they’ll take their money and their business to someone else. And for the longest time I also believed this. The truth is, when you have that mindset you’re living in a realm of scarcity (not enough to go around). You believe that your time, insight, gifts, or boundaries aren’t valid or valued unless you break them to satisfy someone else’s needs. No thanks! Here’s a friendly reminder: Your true friends and family members will still love you even if you don’t reply to their messages right away. The colleagues and clients who respect and value your talents and well-being will not impose their work ethic or expectations onto you. They’ll respect your boundaries and trust that you have their interests at heart while also tending to your own mental health. I’m successful, happy, grateful, at peace, confident, and truly believe that abundance flows to me freely. Placing value on my time and setting boundaries into place has not and will never take away from my quality of relationships, amount of income, or level of respect others have for me. If anything it allows the correct people to flow into my life with more ease, and keeps the wrong people away from my sacred energy.

What excites you? For me it’s being creative, shifting perspectives, when people ask me for advice/insight, photography, and spiritual evolution. (Just to name a few) Whatever your thing is, don’t ignore it or push it aside. Allow yourself to embrace and accept that these things are part of who you are and your purpose here on earth. Follow your passions, be curious, and grateful that the universe has provided you with things that excite you this way! This reminded me that my job/career doesn’t define who I am or what my mission is. My job isn’t why I’m alive. I’m blessed to do hair, makeup, and photography, and transform people ...from the outside in, but that’s not what makes me feel alive. It’s not what gives me my sense of purpose. What does give me life is being able to shift people’s perspectives and help them level up, however that may look or feel to the individual. Helping people recognize their inner and/or outer beauty, and shifting something within them so they can truly believe their power is what gives me purpose. What do YOU do for a living?
