What to do when people say that their horse "absolutely does not have laminitis" even though the horse is not sound and has the tell-tale stress rings cascading... down the hoofwall because their vet and/or farrier says the horse "does not have laminitis"? These rings do not occur with a food change (unless it is a terrible new food that is a laminitis trigger). The introduction of anything into the horse (through its mouth or by injection) that cannot be processed can result in inflammation. And laminitis is a 'whole horse inflammatory disease' starting in the gut. It is not a 'foot disease.' And yes, unfortunately, your horse has symptoms of laminitis when the hooves look like this. And ideally, you will believe it and make healthy changes.
