7 years ago today we faced the Dragons on @cbcdragonsden What a journey! Here's a link to our pitch: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2418117518/ Thank you all for believing in us!
On behalf of the staff and youth leaders at Hope Blooms, located in K’jipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral, unceded, and unsurrendered territory of the Mi’kmaw nation, we stand in solidarity with the Mi’kmaq community and the Mi’kmaq lobster fishers who have and continue to endure acts of violence and racism across Turtle Island and on all Indigenous land. We acknowledge the time, energy, and emotional toll this can take which is why it is so important to support the Mi’kmaq co...mmunity, financially, by sharing and amplifying Mi’kmaq voices, calling on government officials, and supporting the people on the frontlines. The Mi’kmaq fishers are exercising their inherent, human and constitutionally protected rights including their 1752 Peace and Friendship Treaty rights to catch and sell fish, reaffirmed by the Supreme Court of Canada’s Donald Marshall Decision in 1999, protecting Mi’kmaq rights to hunt and sell fish for a ‘moderate livelihood’. We stand in solidarity with the Sipekne’katik First Nation, who on the anniversary of the Marshall Decision, announced their self-regulated moderate livelihood fishery which sparked the most recent acts of violence and racism towards the Mi’kmaq fishers. A photo story of our October! Working hard to create Holiday Gift boxes to raise funds for our annual Community Christmas gift giving and dinners. Working on our 3 youth social enterprises. Started 3 food box programs for food insecure community members. Partnered with North End Community Health Centre to give food baskets to their clients with Chronic Illness. Teaching cooking classes in person and virtually for our youth and harvesting the last veggies from our gardens and baking up some delicious meals. It does take a village and we thank so you for supporting us! Thanks to Community Food Centres Canada's Good Food Access Fund for helping us help our community.
Thank you SO much!!!
Sending you all some good vibes from our garden today...we even harvested some ice cream cones #growingmorethanfood #foodsecurity #earthlove
