Coping strategies for the holidays during the pandemic. Our holiday celebration of course is going to be different this year. Aside from all other reasons, it is going be doubly challenging when we can't access our usual means of support and resources. My hope is that at least one thing in this list will help you get through this holiday. ... 1. Accepted for what it is. Unfortunately, the pandemic has put a damper on everyone's holiday plans. 2. Make a list of things you can do (NOT what you can't) 3. Go for a walk or run even if it is a short distance. Sitting at home all day and night can take a toll on our mental health. 4. Do some yoga or light exercise ( check out the Fiton app, Adrian's yoga on YouTube) 5. Watch something funny, whether it is on tik tok, youtube, Netflix etc 6. Read a book (something that grabs your attention) 7. Meditate (even if it is for 5 minutes) - if this is hard, picture something or a place that brings joy to you. 8. Journal (or angry diary or angry letter - this will help you release your holiday frustrations. It is a great way to release the negative emotions/feelings instead of holding onto it) 9. Bake or cook (stay present) 10. Call a friend or a family member if possible. 11. Listen to your favourite song and dance your heart out (another one of my favourites) 12. Write, draw or colour. 13. Play board games
