Wow had an amazing Instagram message from Edgar, a kind, very talented soul I met on Venice Beach during my book tour in Nov. 2019. Had to share, just goes to show the importance of spreading love, compassion and acceptance. Heard Edgar play music and Felt called to speak to Edgar that day so I did, we had a great conversation and did a video with Edgar(not knowing he was struggling with addiction in that moment) Edgar had answered the question what is a healthy recovery lif...estyle to you? And have him one of my books. Little did I know that exchange of energy and words would be the start to Edgars journey into Recovery. Feeling happy to be alive and blessed to have the opportunity to meet and speak with amazing humans like Edgar. Congrats on your new perspective on life and new healthy lifestyle Edgar my friends, keep shining your light through that beautiful music. Thanks for reaching out and sharing your story with me and allowing me to post it to spread hope. https://instagram.com/the_syllogisms?igshid=10n8ga736p0tc

Today is Bell let’s talk day.. bringing awareness to the importance of speaking out. Speaking out about mental health is: -Not only to to help those suffering ...in silence know it’s ok and important to speak up and ask for help - but also for those who have had the blessing of asking for help and getting on the journey of healing to speak up about how it’s changed our lives in hopes to create space and hope for those suffering in silence to be able to ask for help as well. I suffered in silence for a while, the shame and fear of being judged or ridiculed kept me trapped in the prison of my own mind. The key to unlocking that prison that was slowly killing me and making me want to take my own life was scary yet ended up being such a magical key. That key was the key of vulnerability and using my voice, opening up to those that love me about my pain so I could get there strength, help and guidance when I was lost. So please if your suffering in silence know your not alone and someone does care .. I do and I’m always here for a chat Sending Love and strength to everyone who might need it right now And please let’s all take 2 minutes of silence to send love and strength to those suffering in silence and to all the families who have lost a loved one do to mental health or addictions.

This is such an amazing perspective and a great reminder of the importance and power of sitting with it, not rushing the healing process and having faith that g...rowth will come from every painful situation, if we allow it. Letting go of the need to control the outcome or other people is a big part of the battle and learning to focus on things we actually have control over and focusing our energy on those things is key. This article is very well written and outlined in an easy to understand format, the big picture I’ve been trying to advocate for several years. Residents of New Brunswick, Please take the time to read this and then ask yourself if having over 80 people in deep inner pain on a waiting list for rehab for over 3 months to get help really ok ? People, human beings who often don’t want to live anymore because the pain is unbearable and the only time it’s slightly bearable is whe...n they self medicate/use drugs to escape. Because drugs aren’t the problem, they are the coping mechanism to cope with the underlying pain. Families that have to watch there loved ones in deep pain slowly killing themselves and then finally there prayers are answered... there loved one wants help, they are ready ! And then .... sorry we will put your loved one on the waiting list and call when there’s a spot open (in over 3 months) How as a society are we allowing this to happen ? Yes there are solutions to this but leaders need to be ready and open to listening and taking action to making certain changes in the system and adding services in places where we have gaps. Just something to think about please enjoy the attached article Andre Viel Aldr Recovery Services

Warning the lyrics are raw and a Dose of reality. We talk about a pandemic, since Jan 2020 in New Brunswick we are averaging 22 new cases of reportedoverdose per month Its been going on for years but not brought to light like Covid, because no one stands to gain financially and large initial investment would be required to make major changes to our system to treat people suffering from addiction like humans, like unique individuals and give them and there families an op...portunity to heal from there traumas and coping skills called addiction, enabling and codependency. if we take into account that every one of the 22 humans/month that overdose in NB affects the mental health of a minimum of 2-3 loved ones. That means since January we know a minimum of 60-80 people/month (over 700 people this year) have been severely impacted by overdose and mental health issues stemming from those overdoses. That’s not counting the thousands that have not overdosed yet that are still suffering and there families. Yet there is still 3 months wait to get into rehab, why not send them out of province for help ? Why make them wait and suffer and risk dying. We can spend billions to vaccinate other countries but not to save people in NB Something to think about With love André Viel

Hey Friends it’s my second year being part of this great initiative, please read bellow and send in your submission let get together to create hope for those still suffering in silence from addiction. ‘Recovery Day’ is an international event with the goal to celebrate those who have attained complete recovery or are on the road to recovery from any form of addictions or mental health challenges. The events, being planned throughout Canada, will look different this year becau...se of Covid but we are excited to be hosting this event in Moncton for the sixth consecutive year. This event is hosted by Salvus Clinic, Addictions and Mental Health Horizon and other community organizations in the Moncton area. This year we will be celebrating our 6th Recovery Day on Wednesday, September 30th, from 11am to 12 pm as a VIRTUAL EVENT on Facebook. This year, with Covid restrictions, we have decided to change our regular venue and we are hoping that this forum will give us new opportunities and the ability to reach new audiences. The broadcast will become a You Tube video after the event and can be shared throughout the community. Each year we seem to be gaining momentum and we have had more local and provincial interest about recovery than ever. While we have no idea how many people will attend the live event we do have a commitment from our community partners to open small venues for those in recovery programs to view and participate in the event. We are asking individuals and groups who would like to participate in the event to submit a short video or artistic work to [email protected] and answer the question What does Recovery look like to you?. Be Well, Be Love, Be You André Viel
