HRC is looking for a live in house manager!! This live-in position is responsible for managing and supervising after-hours and weekend programming for program residents/participants. The house manager shall reside in the suite provided within the house. The suite includes a bedroom, private bathroom and living area. Rent and utilities including cable TV and internet, are provided as reimbursement for fulfilling duties and responsibilities. New legislation is being proposed for Human Trafficking Victims and if passed, the Protection From Human Trafficking Act would create a streamlined process for victims to get a protection order against their traffickers with violations of orders resulting in possible fines, jail time and drivers license suspension. The legislation would also enable victims to start a lawsuit against their traffickers to seek compensation for the harm suffered and makes it easier for police to... search homes or vehicles where a victim might be held. Hope Restored Canada was one of the agencies consulted while the bill was being drafted. We are really encouraging the government to continue to consult the advocates, the front-line agencies, and specifically those with lived experience as they craft further details of what this legislation will look like. Hope Restored has an 8 bed safe house in Saskatoon for women and girls wanting to exit the sex trade. Our home provides support, hope and most importantly, that "safe place to go." In just one year, the program has a graduate who is leaving to further her education. The remaining women are working hard to recover from their years of exploitation, through individual and group counseling. Girls as young as 13 are recruited into the sex trade by human traffickers that exploit their vulnerability. Most are Indigenous. The pimps and traffickers, who expect their victims to work everyday, rake in an average of $280,000/year per victim. The girls and women, who usually have no access to family and friends and fear harm from their traffickers, are trapped. The pandemic has reduced their escape options even more.
