It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Musa Mvula, a longtime staff of Seed of Hope, passed away on November 16 2020 after a short illness. He joined Seed of Hope in 2005 and throughout the years he has shown great leadership and commitment to the communities of Bhekulwandle, Illovu and surrounding areas. In April 2005 he started working as a volunteer at Seed of Hope doing administrative work but didn’t feel fulfilled until he facilitated the children's 'After Schoo...l' ministry as he discovered that youth and children were his passion. In 2012 he started leading the SOH youth programme called Abaholi Bakusasa (tomorrow's leaders). Through this programme he was able to provide life skills to learners in local high schools. It has been amazing to witness the transformation God brought to the students through Musa's message and his life. He also taught a leadership program for high school learners using Peer Groups. Many of the testimonies given during their graduation included youth who struggled with addictions but grew to become leaders in their circles of influence. In June 2011 Musa started his own sports ministry in Illovu Township, the New Direction Sports Ministry. The aim was to share the Gospel, develop leadership qualities within the youth, help them to discover and fulfill their dreams, as well as equip them to play sport and to fight poverty. New Direction started with 12 youth and now boasts 45 players who make up three soccer teams U15, U17 and open. In 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out he felt the need to create awareness of the disease and that led to him releasing a song called Asenzenjalo (Let’s do the right thing). Through this song he was encouraging young people to stop the spread of Covid-19 by washing their hands and wearing masks. Musa was well known in the community and many young people looked up to him. This is indeed a great loss for Seed of Hope and the community. We give thanks to God for the time He gave us with Musa. Our thoughts and prayers are with Musa’s family and friends.

"No one can declare you the leader; you have to earn it. No position will make you a leader. People follow people, not positions. They respect people whom they trust. You have to take action that inspires people to follow you. Nobody follows anybody who doesn’t do anything; people follow people who do something of significance.
