A special thanks to residents who participated in interviews, the Aboriginal Standing Committee on Housing and Homelessness, and Christy Morgan from Trellis for your guidance and wisdom. Phase 2 (interviews with Indigenous Housing experts) will begin later this month.

Solutions like this are vital to ensuring vulnerable people are not left behind. This year underscored the safety of home, and we are grateful to have received funds from the Emergency Community Support Fund and Clearwater Charitable Foundation to convert hotel units at The Elan into homes for Calgarians. 2021 goal: continue welcoming people home!

It’s #UniversalChildrensDay a day to acknowledge the possibilities of our next generation. Thanks to a generous donation from glasswaters foundation, a new partnership with Emma’s House has brought safety and security for new and expecting mothers. At Glasswaters House, mothers and their children have a place to grow, learn, and develop skills for a solid start to family life.

DYK: Calgary needs 15,000 new affordable homes just to reach the average number of non-market rental units in other major Canadian cities? While the number is steep, we’re committed to doing our part to grow affordable housing options in #yyc and have a plan to get there. Today is #NationalPhilanthropyDay! We are so grateful for the people in our community who commit their time and money in countless ways for the greater good. And even as we’ve spent this week celebrating a year of generosity, we also celebrate the promise of tomorrow every gift means for the people we serve. (Did we mention it’s also Che’s birthday? Glad to have you on the team!)

‘Twas the night before Christmas in Horizon homes, the children couldn’t sleep, they continued to roam. Gifts wrapped, ribboned, and delivered by Shaw, now under the tree were a source of great awe. The children widened their eyes and stifled their yawns, patiently awaiting the coming dawn (or as seen below, immediately opened their presents, marveling at the mystery contents). Thank you, Shaw, for making Christmas Day brighter, and for working to bring communities closer together.
