So with all of us hunkered down here’s a little reading material. With regards to the last post, thanks for all the input! Jodi mentioned pot bound might be beneficial to blooming and that definitely was my experience opposed to the vine growing unrestricted in the garden which grew like Sue’s. You can see the difference in the photo below. Balanced blooming fertilizer for sure but doing a little research rewarded me with the following. Two thunbergia...grandiflora vs laurif...olia. The one we all grew this year was the ‘grandiflora’. Both vines are winter bloomers, both blue but the ‘laurifolia’ is a little more generous with its summer blooms. I am now on the hunt for a supplier of ‘laurifolia’! I am in a love/hate relationship with this amazingly beautiful Thunbergia ‘Grandiflora Blue Skyflower’. I had such high hopes for vigorously blooming blue dripping from an dead old tree we have in our back garden but though the foliage is definitely having a great time the blooms are nonexistent. Now this morning this gorgeous specimen has appeared...I’m sure just to flirt with the threat of frost before the buds meet their demise. So for all of you out there who experimented with this beauty this season we need your stories...success or fail. Is it a keeper for season 2021???
