Can we love the Budweiser Clydesdale/Anheuser Busch team any more?! It’s a bold decision but it’s in the best interest of the public. For the same reason we have suspended our horse-drawn activities, we would rather buckle down and get through this pandemic as fast as possible. We are all eagerly waiting to get back to drinking beers with our friends during the Super Bowl, visiting with grandparents, or taking the family for a sleigh ride. Let’s all do our part now so that we can gather with friends and loved ones, without barriers, sooner rather than later. #staysafe #wellgetthroughthistogether #budweiserclydesdales #horsedrawnokanagan

We can not emphasize this message enough. Please, please do not feed animals you do not own. We have found onions and oranges in the pasture, foods that were obviously brought to the horses intentionally (and thankfully they didn’t eat). Not only do horses have a very limited diet, some foods can be detrimental to horses, either by causing choke or it can be toxic, cause an allergic reaction or spike in sugar levels, all of which can cause death or irreversible damages. I know everyone loves to feed treats to horses, but by not feeding them you are doing them good. #dontfeedtheanimals #themoreyouknow #horsedrawnokanagan

#DYK The Suffolk Punch is a rare breed of heavy horses, and one we don't see very often in or region, or Canada for that matter. We are only aware of a few in the Interior of BC. Not as tall as some of the more popular breeds, the Suffolk Punch is still a very strong and more practical size for horse-drawn work. They originate from England are are always chestnut in colour. #rarehorsebreed #suffolkpunch #horsedrawnokanagan #heavyhorse

Now this is best way to ring in the New Year! Here’s to good health and happiness, and time spent with horses. We hope to see you in 2021, at a community wagon ride, wedding carriage ride, or at our christmas sleigh ride event. Meet Wyatt, a lovely Percheron gelding that belongs to a friend of ours. He is enjoying the recent snowfall, rolling and playing in his pen, while a machine is removing snow in the background (sound on!). How times have changed! Well played Wyatt, well played #machinesworkingforhorses #workinghorse #horsedrawnokanagan

Dec 25 Merry Christmas everyone! Never mind presents, turkey dinner, or watching holiday movies - this was all we really wanted to do today and we are happy to share it with all of you. Enjoy a little video clip of our horses Jack and Sunny out for sleigh ride with bells on before the sun went down. (Volume on!) Christmas felt a lot different this year but we are forever grateful for our horses to help us get through a difficult year. Thank you to everyone who has been follo...wing our feed and reading our daily posts for the month of December, looking back at our previous sleigh ride events. We hope it brought you a little extra Christmas cheer. We also hope that we will be back on the sleighs with all of you in December 2021. Nothing would make us happier. Happy Holidays from all of us at Horse Drawn Okanagan! #merrychristmas #thankyou #oldfashionedfun #wellgetthroughthis #seeyounextyear #winterwonderland #harnesstheholidays #sleighinit #playonthesleigh #horsesforchristmas #horsedrawnokanagan #christmas #sleighride #drafthorses #theholidays #okanagan #okanaganlifestyle #lifewithhorse #heavyhorse #workinghorse #togetherwegotthis #explorebclater #bcnice #armstrongbc #lovelocal #winterbucketlist #memories #lookingback #drafthorse

Horse Drawn Okanagan 2020 foals are getting big! Remember little Annie and Missy? Well here they are now, along with Maximo and they are looking fabulous! Annie and Max are weaned now and living the independent life. Max is going to be a big boy and just look at those knees! Missy is a few months younger but at only 4 months old she is a chunky monkey already and she looks like she’ll turn grey like her beautiful mama. We can’t get enough of these babes #thefutureisbright #horsedrawnokanagan #family

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.... We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. We regret to announce that our annual sleigh ride event for 2020 is cancelled. We will miss seeing all the smiling faces, listening to the Christmas carols, and hearing the laughter while out on our sleighs with you. We extend virtual hugs to all of our supporters, patrons, sponsors, volunteers and to all the draft horse fans out there. ... We’ll post lots of photos and video this winter of our teamsters and horses playing in the snow. Keep in touch, send us a message or tell us a story and share your sleigh ride photos from previous years! In the mean time, stay safe and healthy this winter so we can come back next year with the best sleigh ride event ever. #EveryHorseRemembered As we approach #remembranceday, we are also reminded of the millions of horses, mules, donkeys and ponies who served in the first world war. It may be surprising to know that equines are still used as working animals around the world. Keep them in mind this week, and forever. Here are some great suggestions to show your support, November 2-11. #lestweforget2020 #horsedrawnokanagan

We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend, we sure did! What a beautiful evening for a wagon ride with this amazing young family. Thank you to the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Centre for connecting us! #happythanksgiving #horsedrawnokanagan #armstrongbc #lovewherewelive

A week ago today, our teamsters Adam and Ken took Ken’s team of Clydesdales named Doc and Bud in their very first plow match! They are the black and white team with red pads and the fancy scotch tops. Well done boys! #plowmatch #drafthorse #horsedrawnokanagan

Join us this Saturday at Purple Springs Local in Armstrong for their Harvest Sale-a-bration! We will be there with 2 teams of horses and our beautiful red wagons giving tours of the nursery. Select some trees to take home, visit all the local vendors and spend some time with our horses! ... https://www.facebook.com/events/2658368417758922 (Wagon loads are limited and COVID protocols will be in effect). #horsedrawnokanagan #community #wagonride

#LightUpLive We would like to take a moment to recognize the millions of Canadians who work in the live events industry (theatre, music, film, performance art etc.) and have not been able to return to work due to #COVID19Canada. Venues and buildings will be lighting up in red tonight, raising awareness for an industry that is still dark. Many of our horses have also played roles in live theatre, short films, and commercials and we are proud to have played the part!

We often get asked if we farm with our horses. We do, a little, but it’s not always practical and often the weather and our normal jobs get in the way If we could harrow this fast you can be sure we’d do more farming with our horses! #timelapse #farmingwithhorses #horsedrawnokanagan

We are grateful for a beautiful evening drive last Saturday with the horses and our new friends, before the smoke rolled in. Special thanks to the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Centre for hosting the virtual LEGO parade and awarding it to this amazing young family! Normally we would enter the IPE parade with a team of horses but I have to admit, this was VERY relaxing and a nice change (and COVID friendly). #lovewherewelive #armstrongbc #horsedrawnokanagan

It's official, baby is now named MISSY Thank you everyone who submitted a name, we had over 50 suggestions. Missy is a great name for a driving horse, it's short and easy to call out. Anton will have lots of fun with this little filly, watching her grow and play and eventually drive with her mama or auntie when she gets older. Missy also happens to share her name with someone special at the The BX Press that Karli, Ben and Barney like to frequent.
