Today our team at Hotel Dieu Shaver recognized #LUDZYSTRONG Day for our good friend and dedicated supporter Steve Ludzik, the driving force behind the Steve Ludzik Foundation (SLF), ahead of World Parkinson's Day on April 11th. Hotel Dieu Shaver will be placing the Canadian flag at half-mast today, as we mourn the loss of His Royal Highness Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh, and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away today, April 9, 2021. The flag will be lowered from now until sunset on the day of the Duke’s funeral or memorial service.

As of today, 2 additional staff have tested positive (total of 10 staff) and all are at home self-isolating. 1 additional patient has tested positive on 2 West (total of 13 patients). ALL VISITATION SUSPENDED: Given the current outbreak situation and to best ensure the safety of all patients, staff and visitors, we are sorry to advise that all patient visitation to HDS will cease effective 1pm today (Dec. 28) until further notice. Hotel Dieu Shaver is extremely grateful for the ongoing charity contributions of Delta Bingo and Gaming & Ontario Lottery. Thanks to our very own HDS Auxiliary & Delta Bingo and Gaming $15,000 was received in 2018-2019 and $9,500 has already been received for this year. These funds provide patient care and equipment at the Hospital and we could not be more appreciative! #ThankYou

OUTBREAK UPDATE: Unit 2 West now has a total of 3 positive staff and 7 positive patients, 5 of which have been transferred to the COVID unit at the SCG site of Niagara Health. The 3 staff are self-isolating at home. All workers on the second floor have been swabbed. Suspended visitation to the second floor continues until further notice.
