Let's resume and close the year 2020! Well it's been one rough ride! 2020 has definitely been the ultimate roller coaster ride for so many of us. My family has been hit by the effects of the year in a few ways. We experienced the loss of 2 family members, one from Covid. As well, I personally have been hit with some health issues myself that has caused some setbacks, and I wasn't sure how it would effect my work and the lifestyle of my family. BUT...not everything was nega...tive! I have been a part of some amazing projects this past year and my business has been successful in so many ways! In fact, the business has increased much more than I had expected which truly fills me with so much gratitude. I would like to thank all my amazing clients that have trusted me with their home renovations since the launch of House to Home Inc. in 2019 as well my suppliers and contractors for their great work. It still feels surreal that I get to do what I love to do...design! I am also thanking my family (near and far), especially my husband who supports me through all the hard times, and having my kids teach me what is truly important in life. 2021 will be a positive year that we can approach with a fresh outlook. I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday break! I have been taking it easy with my family and enjoying the quiet of the season. That said, I had time to create this little before and after video of my latest #chartwellprojecthth. It was definitely a long process to get this design constructed during this past summer, with many delays on shipments and labor due to COVID, but I couldn't be happier with the final result! This was my second IKEA kitchen this summer. It start...ed out as a very traditional white kitchen. The clients wanted a fresher more modern look as so we jumped in with darker IKEA cabinets and custom woodwork on the shelves, island and the showstopper wood beam above the sliding doors. Mix it with some interesting half moon handles and a glossy square backsplash and you have a kitchen full of personality and texture that looks nothing like the standard IKEA kitchen anymore. The homeowners were so patient and helpful throughout the entire process and I appreciate their understanding with the delays that came with our work. I am grateful to have such amazing clients. I started the #borealeprojecthth back in April. The goal was to give the parents of two adorable girls a calm and serene bedroom that they could retreat to after a busy day. Due to the pandemic and several custom pieces it took a little longer than anticipated, but it is finally done and I couldn't be happier with the result. Fortunatelly, I managed to still keep busy during lockdown and here is one of three rooms at my #borealeprojecthth that is finally nearing completion. Due to Covid-19 it took a while longer to gather the pieces to transform this room, but it will be beautiful when it’s all done! We still have to decide on the rug. It’s back to school time for many of us and we are all slowly getting back to the new normal. We have to remember Covid is still present and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Many of us have been affected, some more then others and it’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions and changes. Among the most difficult of design challenges is figuring out what to do with a hallway, especially if that hallway is dark and narrow. But there are some key fixes to transform any hallway into a warm, light, and inviting space. 1. When it comes to broadening your visual space, reflective surfaces are definitely your friend. Consider adding one large mirror to expand your sight lines. 2. ... Lighting can make or break any room, but especially a narrow hallway. Generally speaking, the more light there is, the bigger a space looks, so use it with abandon. 3. Paint your hallway a light color to keep it feeling open and bright. 4. Add storage that will house keys and mail. Invest in a console with tall legs and a minimal design to let your visuals flow freely. #racineprojecthth . . . Nothing better to keep me occupied during Covid lockdown then taking on a HUGE project, my #guertinprojecthth . It’s been a rollercoaster ride of excitement & putting me to the test, many quick design decisions had to be taken to ensure a smooth process and to add to the thrill construction started A LOT earlier then planned. I went with a mix of light & airy with crèmes and blues and I couldn’t be happier with the decisions. Stay tuned!!!
