We have been curating inspiration from everywhere for #ourlittlehousethatcould renovation. We want it to be 100% us. It’s hard not to be influenced by current trends that you love but we are striving for something different. We want it to be detailed AND extremely functional for our family of 5. Just when we think we have a look or design figured out, we stumble upon a post that sparks excitement like the arch detail on this cabinet by @shopvintagesupply. ... Progress pics on the feed....what!!! I mean, it’s practically done except for the styling part;) This very functional and beautiful ensuite is part of the #wascanahighlandsproject. The client played a very big part of the overall design and she knew exactly what she wanted. We simply facilitated that for her. ... The warmest and sunniest home in all the land. The #modernbungalow project with @queencitycustomhomes is one of my all time favs. Her style was close to my style so selecting all the finishes seemed pretty easy! It feels like home every time I visit.

Do you have a good relationship with your home. How do you tell if you do? Well, I say bye to our home and take one last glance every time I leave. It’s crazy weird I know. But it’s cozy, sunny, warm and feels like home so I hate to leave it. I miss it when I leave. It’s not fancy, spacious or filled with expensive things because those things just don’t matter. What matters is how you fill it and what you fill it with. I can help:) Thankfully, I love this gig and this is wha...t I was meant to do. I created hourly consulting from a need to help @uplusmehome customers. As a business owner, I’m not strategic most of the time but this service has become essential for many of my customers and clients. At the end of 2019, I only wanted large scale projects. Now, I want to help as many people as possible. We all just want a nice place to come home to. So this is where I want to come in and help. We all have so many questions about our homes that need to be answered by a... knowledgeable professional and most of the time, we don’t have those opportunities. A mini style consultation can be 1-2 hours and you can ask me anything and I’ll do my absolute best to provide all the information you need and to make you excited about the possibilities of your home. Pillows and Plants. What more does a girl need? Who has a Christmas list this year? My list can’t be wrapped with a pretty bow. With everything going on in the world and in my world, I just want the ones I love under this roof and a home that makes everyone feel good. When I say, Good it means safe, secure, comfortable, content and welcomed. ... We have been doing a lot of upgrades lately to make improvements in our home so that we are all comfortable and safe. The greatest takeaway from co-vid this year, our home and the people I share it with, matters the most. #lovemesomehome

It might be our basement but the new LED lighting changed everything. The wall lights add that secondary level of lighting in the evenings to help with the coziness of the space. Wall lights, either hard wired or plug in, can replace the use of table/floor lamps. Saves table and floor space 2when you are working with a smaller space and it gives the room an elevated more refined look. Win! Win! Tap for sources

If you can believe it, the dark espresso cabinets and appliances/range hood are existing. All we did was give this kitchen a face light by replacing the upper cabinets, the quartz countertops and backsplash. It completely transformed the look and feel of this space.. Ohhhh and a fresh coat of paint on the walls and ceiling!!! One of my fav transformations! ... Tap for sources

I’m going to trust that when the time is right, I’ll jump. But until that happens, I’ll just be over here enjoying the process. 2020 was a tough year. I’ve been through ALOT worse when I stop to think about it. My favourite part of 2020 was being quarantined in a very nice home, as a family and thinking to myself, I really, really, really like being around these people. 2021 will be a mix of life’s highs and lows just like 2020 and tomorrow is just another ordinary day. I...n fact, it’s just a Friday. But let’s continue to rise and shine and try to do our best because tomorrow might be one of those amazing day that changes everything! Could you imagine!!! Chris and I really do love what we do and at the end of the work week we leave most of what we have to give on the table. We spend the weekend catching up on all the back end stuff which consists of everything that makes up our personal and business lives. We are very blessed to have found each other because we completely get it and understand what it takes to run a business. We never actually fully shut it off but as long as we are supporting each other through that work l...oad, it makes everything okay. It’s our basement. Who said your basement has to be dark and dingy? Hell, who said it has to be for your teenager. We converted this 1,000 sq.ft space into our master retreat. We live here, we work here and we sleep here.... In fact, I really should leave here....I’m here all the damn time. I’ve been supplementing with vitamin D. It’s getting ridiculous. I love coming and I hate going.... I told them today that I adore their home. We worked together for almost a year sweating over the details and picking all the exterior and interior material selections. Some projects just have a lasting bond. This is just one space in this gorgeous home that I snapped pics of today.... I’m not the only one that wants to move in today right?!?!

I have always enjoyed working with @queencitycustomhomes. These clients went through a horrible build with a business in Regina. Notice, I didn’t say builder..... This family deserved this beautiful home to move into and I absolutely loved helping them with the details and finish package. Welcome home

She waited so patiently for the last few pieces to dress the walls.... We finally installed the wall art from @uplusmehome. Finding @celadonart in Las Vegas last year was worth the trip alone. Finding a Canadian manufacturer of beautiful art? Incredible. Thank you so much!!! Not my current style but it isn’t about me and my style. It is about her and her style.

Our walk-in. You don’t know what you’re missing until you have it or something like that. We still have a few small things to do in here so these are just our progress pics (for now). Getting ready in this space blows our minds every single time. It use to be a spare bedroom but now it’s our walk in closet and our bedroom is in an open space adjacent to the living space. Hence the name, master suite. Designed/built by moi and @chrismurraycustom. He might love building closets but don’t tell him I told you;)

What do you post when you feel uninspired by your photos and your feed but you’ve been busy just doing your thing...... You post about doing your thing, I guess!! I had 2 interviews this weekend for both @uplusmehome and HEI and I have 3 wonderful people assisting me with both businesses. I guess I didn’t have to put out a job posting. They found me. Our master suite is hands down my favourite space to recharge in. It’s 100% our personal style full of tone on tone and texture. Every corner is also @uplusmehome which makes it even more special. I’m reminded of my passion and hard work every time I lay eyes on it. Have a great weekend! I’m spending the weekend with family, doing a bit of work, enjoying our home and celebrating my daughters 10th birthday.

Bathroom mirrors are difficult, difficult, lemon, difficult to find at the best of times and then trying to find the perfect ones during a pandemic is damn near... impossible!! The vanity in our #mastersuite is finally done!!! The tile backsplash and wood cap/shelf was a design after thought which @chrismurraycustom and I seem to do often with our renovations but it’s where the magic lies;) Happy Sunday... I can’t tell you how happy I am to not have to wipe water marks off our vanity mirrors ever again. Now, the kids bathroom is 100% a different story. @ House Envy Interiors

So far, we are thinking of @sherwinwilliams pewter green for the base cabinets and origami white (same as our walls) for the upper cabinets. Even designers need inspo!! Thank you @em_henderson :) We are adding 1 special upper cabinet to add some visual interest to an otherwise very boring run of upper cabinets:)... Now, we have to decide on a custom design for the range hood. Sweating the details. #thelittlekitchenthatcould @chrismurraycustom

Have you ever heard of that renovation myth where you start one project and it just rolls into the next, to the next, to the next....... It’s not a myth but we are blaming our kitchen refresh on a new fridge. Crap. We absolutely needed a new fridge and a new fridge for a family of 5 wasn’t going to fit into the too small opening:( So, we are giving our kitchen a @chrismurraycustom facelift. We want to blow out walls and completely redesign the kitchen. But for now, we are kee...ping the layout the exact same and just taking our basic builder kitchen and designing/detailing the poop out of it. We can’t wait to get started and think about detailing and designing every square inch but we got one shot at this, so we will take our time to think about/create a gorgeous, tiny kitchen. We won’t get much on our wish list but we will absolutely improve our kitchen from what we have now. Still have to live with the corner pantry. Such as life sometimes. Two-toned? Gold or black finish? Simple or a bit dramatic? Maybe a rich green lacquer for the base cabinets? Feeling inspired by this amazing kitchen by @katemarkerinteriors

I’m noticing that you switch things up every couple of months! ~Chris I like my home to surprise me, often. I get bored fast and I can’t afford to replace everything every couple of months so I’ve figured a way around it. Moving just a few pieces around and playing with decor can create a brand new feeling within your space.... I don’t have a lot of places for decor so the few vignettes I do have, are switched up often. Tip!!! If money is tight, just use what you have to play with your space and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how satisfying it is without spending a penny;)
