A special statement from Lewis and Cathy George on the future of the Sea Shanty Restaurant. It comes with a heavy heart and after months of deliberation, we have decided to permanently close the Sea Shanty Restaurant due to unforeseen health reasons. Without all of you, we could not h...ave enjoyed the success that we had over the years and shared in many wonderful moments in our lives as we all grew together as a community. Thank you to everyone who made special trips to come dine with us from all over the world and sending your friends to come relax while taking in the amazing view. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that was a part of the Sea Shanty family over the years and for all their hard work and dedication to helping maintain a friendly, fun and entertaining work atmosphere. A special thank you to Jean Mattson, our daughter Cherie and son Richard George, Eric and Trina Mattson, the Tofino CO-OP, Aaron from Sysco, Don and Brad from B&C Foods, Seven Seas, Bun Master, Timothys Oysters, Codfather Smoke House, Glacier Seafoods, The Tofino LDB staff, Steve from Smoke Masters, Brad from Longbeach Plumbing and Heating, Faithful Plumbing, Mike from Breakers Electric, Longbeach Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Tofino, FEAST!, Bobby Lax from the Tofino Ucluelet Culinary Guild, Tofino Business Association, Tofino Bus, Trilogy, On TAP, Fresh Tap Wines, Rapid Repair, Steve at Canterbury Coffee, Vitality Pop, Island Fire Protection, Russell Foods, Tofino Brewery, Vancouver Island Brewery, Alberni Refrigeration, Island Ice, Glacier Seafoods, James from Eco Lab, Lutz from West Pacific Seafoods, all the local fishermen who provided us with fresh, wild local fish to the fish markets, our Taaqwiiak First Nations Fishermen, the wonderful communities of Tofino, Ucluelet, Esowista, Opistaht and Ahousaht for your local support along with all the local businesses and resorts for sending your guests to dine with us and the late David Rae-Arthur, his wife Margaret, sons Steve and Scott for providing us with their fresh, locally caught Dungeness crab over the years that everyone came to love in our famous Seafood Monte Cristos. We are truly thankful for all your support. We would not have enjoyed the many wonderful years of success and happiness without having you come and enjoy our family atmosphere!
